son 18 housing help please?

hi, we are due to move to our new posting in Feb 2010 and my eldest son will turn 18 a week before.Could anyone please tell me what will happen with regards to my son as i understand the army will no longer take him into account when allocating a quarter. we also have a 10 year old daughter a 5 year old autistic son and a 2 year old daughter. my eldsest is in fulltime college so doesnt have any income and to be honest i still think he should be able to live at home with us. does anyone have any experience of this or advice? Thanks. we are currently in a 4 bed quarter are we likely to have a fight on our hands?

If he is still in full time education i believe he will still be classed as a dependant so you shouldn't have any problems

Your son is classed as a dependant up until the age of 23 so they should consider him when allocating a quarter.

I suggest you widen your search, try typing in forces wives or something.

Oh and dont take whats said on a forum as given. Read the JSPs and check with welfare and clerks.

When you put your papers in to apply for a quarter just say that your son is living with you and attending college (they don't check). The paperwork usually gets signed by your families officer who invariably doesn't read it or know your personal circumstances and you get offered a 4 bed house. I put my 17 year old daughter down on the application form, who has always lived with her mum, and I have had 3 four bedroomed houses that I wasn't technically entitled to.

You may also have a case with your son having special needs and requiring a room of his own. Even better accompanied by a doctors letter stating that.

That is great advice to give - lie on your application like me and you will get what you are not entitled to :T

What if someone was getting posted into your area that was entitled to a 4 bedroomed house but couldn't get one because everyone else was doing the same as you.

Just to keep you posted we have been allocated a 4 bedroon house, we had no fight as we are stiil entittled to one.(and we had no reason to lie). Thanks for everyones advice
