Thanks, last two postings have been stressful waiting to find out where we would be housed as entitled to a 4bed but none available. I knew people did this and disagree with it immensely, using children from previous relationships to gain extra bedrooms. Fine if you are actually seeing said child and they visit on a regular basis.
We have been in a 3bed house for last 16mths cramped to say the least, we have now since moved to a 4bed where life is much easier. I am dreading moving back to UK next year, its bound to be another housing dilemma.
PMSL, you have no idea, quarters in UK are tiny, in short supply and you will be given the minimum entitlement they can feasibly offer. And be prepared to be advised of your quarter address 2 weeks before you are due to fly - and we all know how useful that is when stuff takes 6 weeks to freight from overseas.
Still at least you have the fun of trying to get your furniture through the tiny front doors of UK properties - bring a big tool kit so you can take the windows out :rotfl:0 -
When you put your papers in to apply for a quarter just say that your son is living with you and attending college (they don't check). The paperwork usually gets signed by your families officer who invariably doesn't read it or know your personal circumstances and you get offered a 4 bed house. I put my 17 year old daughter down on the application form, who has always lived with her mum, and I have had 3 four bedroomed houses that I wasn't technically entitled to.
You may also have a case with your son having special needs and requiring a room of his own. Even better accompanied by a doctors letter stating that.
We are a 3 person family and for our past 2 quarters been allocated 3 bed houses as we have also have pets which are taken into account on quarters. we have never played the system at all and find that wrong. My friend who is an AFF rep has always had problems with quarters as one of her children need an OT report and the house has to be exact to the OT report.Kim0
