  • I was at my local branch this morning with my OH at 8.30am all ready for opening at 8.45am and there was about 10 of us waiting for opening.

OH cringed when they opened the door, I was first in and stuck my arms in the air and sang..... HERE COMES THE GIRLS... staff started laughing while we started running! :-)

We were all very calm to begin with and then it got really really busy within 5 minutes but I managed to get everything I wanted.

Tempted to go back tomorrow though and see whats left but know I dont NEED anything more!

  • Yes, that was me *waves back* - I had to leave half of them at work tonight as I couldn't carry them on the bus. Hope you kept to your budget :)

    lol!

I know exactly who you are now, I saw you making your way to the door that was being opened and I remember thinking "she's not getting in front of me!" I feel guilty now I know you're a fellow member of MSE. :o (oh the shame)

definatley not civilised in metro centre today.....people were grabbing tons and tons of stuff...husbands on guard duty all over the place surrounded by huge bags full and women manically throwing anything and everything at them...shelves were practically bare by 10am...i took one look and beat a hasty retreat downstairs

Totally agree with how uncivallised the metrocentre was. It was mayhem, and as their stock room had 3 door people were gauding them all. Felt really sorry for the staff. Was talking to one at about 2pm when everyone was ransacking the cages before they got opened, then when leaving the metro center we poped in (as we were parked nearish boots) and i was speeking to his mate and the first sales assistant was lik" youve been here all day!" Atho i hadnt been in the shop all day i did see a few ladies who had been there atleast a hour as we poped in 3 times in total- each time we passed we peeked in.

They were still opening cages at about 5.30 i was talking to one of the ladys who was actually managing to put things on shelves before they were taken, and she said they were getting deliveries every hour! It was mental but i think much farer than when you go to the likes of the lush sale and if your not first in the queue you dont get any bargins.

I was lucky and got one of the £60 no.7 vanity case boxes for £15 (stood in the right place at the right time, she opend a cage right behind me, and some old women who i picked it up decided she didnt want it so i kept it), i got the small no7 set with head band and clenser stuff, the no.7 compact, some xmas cards and some make up brushes that i'd been eying up before xmas but couldnt justify the price, oh and 2 mugs with a cat and a dog, for nextyears xmas presents.

My mam was also stood in the right place somone put down one of the chilli peper butterfly bags so she nabed it. She also got a couple of small no.7 things, and a fcuk cubed set.

We then went off to ikea and came back just at the right time (we had origonally went in cos my mam loves sanctury stuff), i made my mam wait a bout 10 mins so see what was comming in on the cages they were still brining out, and this girl had loads of the £10 small sanctury hatboxes and underneath were some larger ones, we picked one up, and a few mins later somone had left another large one on the shelf where the girl had put the smaller boxes (which were gone when we poped in a hour later on the way out) so my mam said she'd get that too (as she didnt get any sanctury stuff for xmas).

Some people were really greedy tho wanting 4 vanity cases or 4 large har boxes or 4 hand bags, wth are they gonna do with 4 hand bags they cant use them all at once.

Anyone wanting toys in the sail i wouldnt bother with the metrocenter, it was wrapping paper, some bath sets, chocolate, gift mugs and then pot luck with whatever cage came out of the stock room.

Awwwww......bless you Wendy & I would like to add on my thanks to you and all the night owls that kept me sane last night, despite not getting a think from .com! Its like a crazy once a year "ritual" lol!!!
  • Well I missed it. Work got in the way. Back home and I log on only to find everything sold out. Why does Boots still have it on the website? If it's OOS it's not available! So don't list it. You are wasting my time, Boots. Raising expectations that are unrealistic.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Was first in the que this morning at the side door. Was there about 7.35 but time went really quickly chating to fellow bargin hunters. Got want I wanted, two no7 sets, cosmetic purse one and eye and brow one. There was loads of stock and more was going out. Loads of shelfs full dowstairs and upstairs loads of toys and mens sets. Spent about £30 but saved over £100. Got a few extra bits for presents for the year so all in all a sucess. Started to get busy about 8.30 and some people were filling up bags and bags but no pushing. A friend of mine went down at 4ish and came back disapointed that there was nothing left.

    So until next year!

Hope you all had fun, know I did.

This is for anyone who ordered an S&G hatbox for store delivery and has not yet picked it up.

I have just come back from having collected my hatbox. I asked the nice SA, who regularly serves me, what would happen if I decided I did not want it. She said I would get a refund and it would go on the shelf. I asked if I could do that, and she said of course. So, one hatbox for £12.50. If you don't ask the question, you don't find out the answer!

    hey :hello:

did SA need to ring cutomer service first to do it?
cos im about to collect mine on friday
just dont want to keep my hopes up
i wish i have live my life a little bit off the book, took a chance and gamble

Did anyone get any toys? There did not seem to be many toys left! I did manage to get the trampoline so was very happy with that but apart from that they only had a few trains. They did have Thomas hot water bottle covers.
