Boots after-Christmas sales - 75% off now over?

As I didn't get to bed till gone 3.10 this morning waiting, and then up before 6 for work, I'm at the stage where I couldn't care if they were giving it away tonight.

I went in today to be told they have put it back a week so maybe its a store decision

Asked a member of staff about it today, who told me that they shouldn't really say, but it starts Wednesday the 20th as they haven't shifted enough at the current reduction, this is in an effort to get some more profit this week.

I went to mine on the way to work, got in early but then meant I was in work early and we work on flexi time so just built some up. I went with the feeling that it was unlikely that it was on but thought I had to try. But then when I got there, there was a few people waiting and one woman said it was deffinetly on as she knew someone who worked there so my hopes were up. When staff opened the door we all asked but she said no it was all half price, she didnt sound convincing so we all went it anyway. The sale isle were pretty full had everything I was after. Picked up a few things and then someone came back and confirmed that it was only coming up at half price. On way out had a quick look at some other things I generally and when doing so over heard the staff they couldnt believe that people had come for the sale, then I heard one saying but it is next week, and the other said yes but it was on the internet last night. I went back to tell a friend and when doing so was told the staff manager was coming out to talk to people who had come for the 75% sale. She said it defintely was not on today, and that they only get told a day before when it is to be, but it would not be this week maybe next week. Hoping I can get down there next Wednesday, but it was a bit like here is what you could have had! Oh well, its all part of the game!

sa at teesside park said they had had an email last night to say was not gong ahead as planned today as the weather last week had put off a lot of customers , she said a lot of irrate customers were there this am expecting the 75% reduction givingthe poor sa grief

glad I checked on here before racing off this morning especially in this weather!!! Went later in the afternoon to one of the smaller branches to check out what they had so I know what to aim for next weds.... thats if it does happen.


If boots is anything like wilkos, at 50% they are still making a profit and aim to sell through as much as possible. At 75% they are making a loss, thats propbably why they have made the discision to hold off. Even at wilkos, where xmas sale goes 50% xmas eve, this was staggered over the sections. 75% went live last Thursday but not on toys. I think they will go next Thursday when I think they will then clear the other stuff at stupid prices to get rid.;)

finally found a boots with my no7 beauty box, the 4th one i tried! very lucky to work in the city centre. couldn't wait until it went to 75% off in case they all sold out! going to hold out for gok wan gift set, gok wan gift set and some mini perfumes until the 75% starts... fingers x-ed they're still there!!!

I've always assumed they still make a profit at 50%, too. Since they obviously can sell each item for 1/3 off and still make a good profit (you're not *really* getting anything free when it's all 342!), I figured it must be marked up enough that they still make a profit when it's 50% off (Boots really does love vastly overpricing things so they can make us think we're getting a deal with a 342 "sale"). But at some point they gotta just get it out the door and price it to move, and we'll be there when that happens!
