Yes, definitely not on at ours. Will just watch and wait - like others have said - they may just not have a 75% sale. Might email them and ask!

Why cant they tell us ????? they did last year and the year before what so different about this year ????????? What I dont like is the LIE's they were telling, there is no need for it, loads of people in the store today were very disappointed not only with the sale being cancelled but the way we were spoken to and dealt with, if they had said at 8.30 this morning that the sale had been cancelled today eveyone would have accepted it, but this is what they failed to do, they lied and said there wasnt gong to be a sale and dont no if there is ever going to be a 75% sale......let's hope you get your bargains next week !!!

There is a sale though, it's a 50% off sale. I've not seen a 75% off sale advertised for today, there are rumours but that is all, so it was very presumtious (sp) of you anyway to turn up 'mob handed' and stand around in Boots waiting 'for an apology' because a company had decided to try and recoup some of their losses because of the snow.

Am I the only one thinking that it seems a bit sad to give some poor shop assistant grief for ONE HOUR over HO not putting on the sale today. Something that she had no control over anyway. Sales like this are a bonus. If they reduce the number of items they buy in next year there will be nothing for anyone then.

You sound like you might have been those 6 ladies from the sale mentioned about 10 pages back, blocking the aisles between you so no-one else could buy anything!![/QUOTE]

Glad to see Im not the only one thinking this!

They didn't tell us last year, or the year before that
Boots don't publish the date of the 75% sale in advance but most people can work it out from looking at previous years dates. Some SA's would tell customers but point out that it was supposed to be a secret.

Last year there were some very ugly scenes in many stores, groups of people buying everything in sight, some real horror stories reported on MSE. The Boots website crashed several times due to the sheer volume of people trying to place orders, the sale was taken off the website permanently after the first day IIRC.

Sale times are supposed to be fun, not the nightmare that some reported last year. Many people said on here that Boots needed to do something to stop the pandemonium of last year, maybe this is it.
I wouldn't like to guess how many people now read this site, hundreds of thousands I suppose, it's understandable that Boots want to keep it low key this year.
It's also understandable that they would be keen to continue at 50% for a little longer, they are running a business after all.

    ....

I was thinking the same thing! OF COURSE stores don't announce in advance when clearance reductions are taking place because they want to sell as much as possible at the higher prices! They might put an ad out the evening before, if that, but that's the most you can expect. The amazing thing is that this year Boots actually IS telling us that it will be next Wednesday (most likely, lol), and they are probably only doing that because they knew the word was out about it being today and thought they'd just as well 'fess up to placate customers. And actually, Boots HQ has not given an official date of the sale -- it's just that many employees spilled the beans when asked by customers. So that could easily change, too.
  • Hi All,

I have 2 aquaintences (sp?) who work in Boots, one is a manager & one supervisor (2 different branches) & have been told that that the 75% was moved from today to the 20th Jan ;););)

    Roll on next wednesday!

    Dx

Last year was my first ever experience of MSE, the Boots thread about the sale, and my first day instore on 75% off day. Right up until I got to the store at 8.30am on the day the sale started, I still hadn't seen anything official about Boots reducing their stock to 75% off - and I recall posts from other Bootsers here about staff saying the didn't know when the sale would begin, or it wasn't being reduced further etc - so I don't think things have changed at all since last year .

I popped in with my mum today to the TC as it opened at 10am and they were just putting lots of toys out which all had 75% off.

We got some brilliant things for my little boys birthdays which are coming up - mainly ELC toys. As the ladies were putting things on the shelves people were taking them off again and everything had gone within half an hour.

I was in the Lincoln branch this morning, where all the toys, including ELC, were still at 50%. I decided to grit my teeth and bought a couple of things, so it wasn't just the shelf price - they definitely scanned at 50%.
