keep them busy with fun stuff - when we said 'i'm board' at the beggining of the christmas holidays my dad used to get us jif/cif ing the skirting boards!! once he got us glossing a piece of chipboard (proper paint brushes and paint) he said it was for a door we believed him - when we askes where the door was for he said he would find somewhere for it when it was painted - turned up on christmas day with my brothers scalextrix (sp) on it!! my dad stated at the time he had intended to use it as a door but could not make it fit anywhere in the house!!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

New girlfriend, highly approved of. I need nothing else as she's a fairly new addition and all the excitement they need. A big girl sharing with 7 younger girls........recipe for success!
I'm sure we'll be doing lots of shopping and playing with gifts too come Thursday....oh and lots of baking.0 -
"Are most peoples kids like mine" - lots of kids round here don't finish until Tuesday.

Ice the cake
Make more decorations for the tree.
Choose what programmes they want to watch after trawling through the Radio Times or similar
Tidy their room in preparation for Santa
Start to make thank you cards for people who give them presents
Watch TV
Go to the Library
Make dinner one night this week
There are plenty of things to keep school kids, of all ages, amusedWe all evolve - get on with it0 -

I have ds (12) and dd(7) our plan of action is/was off to my nan's this morning but the roads/pavements are really icy here so maybe not a good idea- also not too sure how the buses are running atm,
tomorrow we are supposed to be meeting up with my middle step daughter in town as we're going to see Alvin and the Chipmunks, and pick up any extra bits for Christmas - see if there's any thing that grabs my eye LOL
Wednesday- will go my nans if we dont get there today LOL
Haven't got round to thinking about Thursday yet!My beloved dog Molly27/05/1997-01/04/2008RIP my wonderful stepdad - miss you loads:Axxxxxxxxx:Aour new editionsSenna :male: and Dali :female: both JRT0 -

Mmm....well mine have been playing with playdough for the past 1 1/2 hours. It's only 10am!
I'm a single parent for the next two days so I'll be popping back here for ideas (I just am desperate for them to not drag me out of the house as I don't like the cold!)."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
How about a technical tresure hunt.
Since I heard about it on her 3 years ago we take the kids walking via www.geocaching.com
Its basically a treasure hunt using gps. Or a mobile phone with gps, a sat nav, or even google maps to try it out.Always on the hunt for a bargain0 -

When I was a child, 'I'm bored' = 'Tidy your room!'. Tidy your room, the most hated words for a child to hear...
I admit I get mine to go round with a cloth and the hoover when they use the 'I'm bored' line"Are most peoples kids like mine" - lots of kids round here don't finish until Tuesday.
Ours finish on wednesday, but are off today and probably the rest of the week, it's a snow day, roads and pavements are too bad to walk or drive unless you really have too.
Right now, DS1 is whinging because DS2 is having a go of the wii, they have already tidied their room (supposedly, does the floor between beds count as room?). Lunch time next then time to clean the house. DS1 on hoovering DS2 on wet wiping. Then we will sort the tree.
I think we need a support thread for parents of bored and over excited children0 -
I'll join the support thread. I'm exhausted already and it's not yet midday. Also got toothache so had to make emergency dentist appointment, that might keep them interested for a while.
So far we've played cards, brushed the my little ponies, admired and used the new super duper potty I've bought for my 3 year old who is struggling with toilet training, half tidied the front room and I'm having a break on here.0
