I use Starclen on the kitchen floor (tiled). Made by the same people as Stardrops, it's the one that looks like lemon barley water and contains ammonia.

whats the deal with the microfibre cloths that everyone is mentioning?

Why are they good, are they better than buying yellow dusters etc?

It's because the fibres aren't a single straight fibre - they've got loads of little bits, so it's like cleaning with millions of soft brushes. (You can read about the science here if you're interested: http://www.cetec-foray.com.au/RiskeNews/Missue5.htm)

Anyhow, they're loads better than yellow dusters. For a start, they won't turn a white shirt a pale patchy lemon.;) They also hang onto the dust they pick up, even when they're dry. Because they're synthetic, they dry faster, and also they don't scratch surfaces.

I have purchased all the wipes, sprays and liquids to clean my floors and I can honestly say that they are not as great as they proclaim to be.

Does anyone have any ideas / products to clean floors that actually work?

I have tiled kitchen floors and oak effect laminate flooring

The wipes and sprays seem to leave a dull effect on the floors

    Any ideas?

I find the Astonish floor cleaner very good - in fact, the whole Astonish range is good. Most discount stores stock it, and I paid 99p for the floor cleaner.

I use Microfibre cloths and stardrops in a bowl of hot water to clean the kitchen floor. Vinyl tiles affairs.

Microfibre cloths are much better than ordinary cloths, as its been said, I use them for dusting too, as they actually pick up dust rather than move it around. These no need for polish unles you like the smell. So saving money as well.

Star drops can be bought from most supermarkets or wilkinsons as can microfibre cloths.
So you know they are actually microfibre cloths, it will say microfibre on the packet.

Stangely enough you might well find both sold out on occassion, I have :D

We have real wood floor in the hall way, I sweep up the dust with a sweeping brush and wash with wood floor cleaner and microfibre cloths.

Forgot to say, I wash the cloths with the bedclothes and "white", most important don't use fabric softener when washing these as it kills them
