I've had a number of different mops over the years but have never had one that was easy to keep clean and scrubbed my floors as well or got into the corners as well as I can on my knees. I have a mixture of laminate, slate, ceramic, quarry tile and lino which I clean with hot water, washing up liquid and a dash of bleach. Once a month I scrub down the quarry, ceramic and slate floors with a nylon pan scourer jobbie and shine up with a spread on shine/sealer from Kleeneze.Life's a beach! Well thanks again, everyone. I used vinegar, lavender and a splash of washing up liquid and did all the downstairs. Smells nice but the mop shed fluff on the floor (which I'm sure is just because it's new.) And I ended up going over it with the kitchen roll on my hands and knees after all because 2 things happened. My toddler slipped on it (even though it wasn't very wet) and my cat trailed muddy pawprints right through the kitchen, dining room and into the living room because the wet just kept his dirty paws damp enough for far enough to make it a nuisance rather than them stopping a couple of feet in.
It did save a lot of time and energy though and I'll definitely do that in future. It's drying upside down on the doorstep now.
Thanks again.
Now to look up steam cleaners...May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
i too use a steam cleaner with a cloth attached to the end of it
sometimes i do it on hands and knees with zoflora or stardrops and very hot water0 -
I got a fab steam cleaner from aldi last year. It is very powerful and has a high BAR (pressure) rating. I did the en suite with it yesterday and you would be surprised at what it flushes out of a `clean` shower and washbasin. Also good on the shower doors. I don`t use it on the kitchen floor because it is a faff to bring down three floors but I would bother if I had babies crawling
I got rid of my os cotton mop as it is difficult to keep it really clean0 -
any advice as how to clean laminate floors
thanks0 -
I get down on my hands and knees and use a dilute solution of stardrops and microfibre cloth. Prior to my discovery of stardrops I used to use diluted flash and a microfibre cloth. Keep the cloth fairly damp (not wet). HTHSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0

I don't spend hours idling in the cleaning products aisle!
