Went up town and looked in charity shop, didnt really see anything for the challenge. Think I am not up enough on the brand names that sell well. Did get myself a new coat for £7.99 and two pieces of nice fabric for 50p each, will probs be able to make something out of them and put towards my stall later in the year but nothing for this month. Will have another look later in the week.0

I'm thinking about the challenge... would like to do it, but not sure where to start yet.
Also, does anyone have any good suggestions what I can make with my stash of wool (lots of balls of lovely reds and various balls of soft pink/white/lilac) to sell? I can knit so was thinking of something quick and funky to make - any links/ideas? Where to sell?
I would make presents but don't have that many people who would appreciate a knitted present, I don't think!:j Currently doing the Swagbucks challenge :j0 -
Well, I think I shall have a go at the turn £1 into £20 and try selling some bracelets at the local toddler group I go to. I have just put in an order of beads and things so ordered a quid extra and will make some jewellery out of it and see how it goes!
I have no scrap gold, so that one is a no-go, but I will keep going with Dooyoo.
Oh and on my mini challenge, I earned £7 extra today, so that goes towards it and also I opened up my savings pot and I managed to save....£42!!!! So, £22 of that goes towards my mini challenge which means I've done it! Yippee! The extra I have left over will go towards getting a drink at the venue-they don't allow any drinks and check bags for naughty items.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650 -

Is the wool doubleknit wool, just got pattern for mitts for girls, uses double knit and fluffy wool (came in knitting kit for dd, borrowed the pattern to make adult mitts).
Anyone expecting a baby - pink / lilac girls - white for either

Update turn £1 to £20 challenge: I think this could be tricky in a month...I propose we do this in March AND April
rufusdog & others... there is nothing to stop you buying materials with your £1, making something and selling it remember
That is what I will do but wont be able to do it this month due to no machine. I will be doing Dooyoo again instead this month although I will keep an eye out around the charity shops.
Had 3 payments this morning, £40 from Onepoll, £25 from Cashback Rewards and £5 from Quidco so not doing so bad. Still waiting for the next voucher from Dooyoo, should be any day now, then I can get daughters camera. I am trying to get enough now for a digital photo frame for my Dad for Xmas.0 -
Forgot to add, I saved a fortune yesterday too as found on the Grab it board about a metal bed on Tesco Direct going for £8. We have been wanting one for ages for the spare room for when any of the grandchildren stay over. Cost me £13.99 with pp and its coming on Saturday. Just need a mattress now.0

Just wondering, does anyone here sell handmade cards? I've been making cards for years and lots of people have said I should sell them but I've always been unsure about how to go about it. I know dh's family would buy some as my MIL went through a brief phase of making+selling cards and they bought hers. I just don't know how much to charge for them.
I was also contemplating whether to take them into work or not but I don't want people to feel they have to buy them to do me a favour. I would much rather do it all anonymously!
I get really unsure of myself with things like this and worry that everyone will hate the cards and none will sell! Any advice muchly appreciatedMaking money for Christmas 2012!0 -
I have made cross stitch cards before. Firstly I put them on ebay but there's there's so many people selling on there I had no chance. Afterwards I gave them my Mum to sell at the club she goes to. They went really well and I even had loads of orders, but the time spent making them far outweighed the price of selling them. I worked it out once - I was getting about 40p an hour. So i gave up! Obviously though normal cards are different as they don't take quite so long.
Could you sell them anywhere - school, local toddler group, etc. I worked in a hairdressers once who had a little stand of homemade cards on the counter, you could ask around. You could even try ebay as I tried years ago.
All I can say is try it ... you'll never know otherwise.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!
