When you sign up as a MS you agree to confidentiality. You would be better off going back to the first threads and joining up with some more of the Companies listed and you may find more work in your area.

Can you not do the phone shop and report the one visit for both Bare and GR?

Yes, I'd do that too!!! Make sure you cover both scenarios in the same visit! Easy!

  • Done a fair bit of MS - prompted long ago by MSE - but only just stumbled upon this thread. Haven't read thru' EVERY post here- so apologies if I'm covering old ground - I'm a newbie so please be gentle!! ABa :Aare the best company I work for. They have some really cool clients, pay well, are ultra-efficient about paying invoices & are the most professional MS company I've come across. You have to (a) pass a telephone interview (b) complete the [expenses-paid] training at a venue near you, (c) complete a successful (unpaid) assessment report & (d) have some prior service industry experience [e.g retail/restaurant.] Their standards are very high - but, if you meet them, word gets around their office & you get offered more & more assignments. Allocations are emailed specifically to you - & then it's up to you to accept or reject them. But only accept those you're sure you can do!! Assessor supporters are brilliant - friendly, & always happy to answer queries. Assignments are varied 'cos of their huge & varied client base - & some include freebies as well as the fee. Unlike some other companies, most assignments also offer travel exes. I LOVE them - hardly do anything for any other companies these days! (Just a word of warning - it can take AGES after applying before you hear anything - it was 9 months between my application & the time they first contacted me)
www.myaba.co.uk & click on 'become a mystery shopper' at the bottonm of the page.
If you need any more info, reply to this or pm me.

Overt means you don't have to pretend to be A.N.OTHER customer - you can openly assess stuff & can admit to store staff that you're doing an audit/assessment. (Overt=open; covert=hidden) For most overt audits I've done, the MS company has suppied me with a letter of introduction to show to the manager before I start. Usually means the client (& the store, if different) have agreed with your MS company that there's no need to be 'undercover'!!

I am doing my first job tomorrow and I am quite nervous. I phoned to register as self employed and they wont let me until I am earning. I have registered with 6 companies so far but there are very few jobs in my area. I will keep looking and hope that I dont mess it up. :j
:hello: Hope it goes well. Don't worry - hmrc will be very keen to get you on board once you're earning! Don't know what area you're in, but my experience is that, the more you do, the more you're asked to do. And I've all but given up on sites where you have to log in daily in the forlorn hope there'll be something for you. I much prefer companies (like ABa) that offer you specific assignments - then offer them to someone else if you can't do them. Lots of luck tomorrow - I was SOOOOOOOOO nervous on my 1st..........it does get easier!!:)
