Has anybody else turned down the car assignments with the 'nude' company that are for the brand in the news at the moment. I tried to explain that it would look prett suspicious to be shopping for a car that has serious faults, but I'm not sure they saw it that way .

I'd view it as a window of opportunity and haggle even harder. Dealers will expect this. :)

Why do the stupid morons at RE continually upload jobs that are out of date knowing full well there brand new website doesn't allow anyone to accept them? Six railway stations showing and can't grab one!!!!!

Yes, and they also have a load of pubs that need to be done on the 14th but in the restictions you can only do it on a Saturday - Unless I'm missing something, that is not going to work!!

Hopefully there clients will get as hacked off as us and take there MS business to a more reliable company (GAP not included)
  • I picked up a telephone call today from RE that only had todays date on but could be done 8am - 12pm Tues and Thurs so considering it was 2.30pm when I picked the assignment up I emailed them asking them to change the date to Thurs and I would do it within the specified time frame. Lo and behold the assignment has now dissappeared from my account and not even an email to explain why.
  • When will RE ever learn. What an embarassing shoddy company to work for! A real bunch of amateurs.

I have done quite a lot. Gave up in the end though, because I had two large runs of work where most of the calls were to mobiles (and at peak times). I just couldn't make a decent amount out of them.

Also, towards the end of a campaign, all that's left are repeat calls (i.e. previous attempts failed). For these, I was getting a success rate of something like 1 in 20. Bearing in mind that even the failed calls can cost money (call charges), because you can get connected but not get a completed survey, I found this all a bit expensive when it was calls to mobiles. The next wave of work isn't released onto the system until the last one is completed, so there's no way to boost your income with only the dregs around...

In one particularly gruesome day, I made less than £6 for something like 9 hours at the end of a hot telephone.

That said, as other respondents mentioned, there are people who get on well with these surveys, and clearly make a decent sum from them.

Not all surveys have to be recorded, it's only some clients/campaigns.

If they are recorded calls, I am sure you get charged for the non geographic number call only.

Once you are established with OC, there's a good chance that you can negotiate about call recording. Depending on client, they were happy for me to record 1 in 5 or 1 in 10 calls. At that time my land line was charging for non geographic number calls, so this made a huge difference to my overheads.

Thanks for that, guess its just "give it a go" time.

  • "You may or may not know that [company name] now has over 450,000 active shoppers all helping to provide a better quality of service to the people who matter the most, you, the customer ....."

So how many jobs do you think may crop up every year? Well, if it was 2 million, that would be an average of just over four jobs per shopper per year. I can't imagine that they can be dealing with that many jobs, or can they? However you look at it, that vast number of active shoppers makes each of us highly expendable!

There are some companies I feel loyal towards, and some I don't. This is one of those that I don't! I think that next time I get a phone call, I'll suggest they ring round all of the other 449,999 on their books.:rotfl:
