Hi, I already work for one of the companies listed on the first page doing price checking but was wondering if anyone knows of an MS forum. There was one I was a member of but if you havent visited the forum in a while they delete you. I did read about another one on here but cant find the link.
Anyone know?
Are you thinking of The Office?
I'm not a member so haven't got the URL for you but I'm sure someone can let you have it ....We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I'm not sure, I dont know the name of it just that it was posted on here at one time. If anyone can give me a link that would be great, thanks.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I agree with the post on the Alert thread from TG, and often log on after receiving an alert to find a duplicated post, or an area specific one, which can be very annoying. Also responses are sometimes posted on the thread, which is also annoying.
On the other hand I can also see Gallygirl's point about people not posting for fear of criticism. I suppose the answer is to try to check the Alert thread before posting, but of course there will always be the times when alerts are within seconds of each other and will appear to be duplicated. I don't think there's any easy answer.
I'm with you totally on this.
What I do when I post on the Alert thread is 1) Check if anybody has posted the same job already. 2) If no, type in the job. 3) Click 'Preview Post' and scroll down to see if anybody posted while I was typing. 4) If still no new post, then click 'Submit Reply'.
I guess there's still some possibility of someone submitting a post at the same time, but doing the above reduces the chance of duplicates greatly.
I think you just need to be careful but we need to take it into consideration that there are times when the site is slow to respond etc. and not showing all the posts, which sounds like the case with 00michelle00's post.:)0 -

Just had a quick Google.
It might be this one?

I hear you. Some time ago I posted a reply in that thread in error - I realised my mistake quickly and deleted my post within 10 seconds, but that didn't stop a forum member sending me a very patronising PM to tell me off.
I also once posted a job alert at the same time as someone else. When I noticed five minutes later, I deleted it as the other poster was listed first. In the meantime, two pedants took the time to PM me and tell me that the job was duplicated. I rarely bother any more.0 -

Stupid gyp..... following the saga of the burger place claiming I wasn't alone I've just had a very patronising email from gyp telling me "if you need to take your partner and drop him off elsewhere, please be sure that he doesn't get back into your car while you are on burger's grounds." Do I look like I'm stupid??? I've asked them to provide CCTV of someone else in the car with me on burgers grounds. :wall:0 -
On the plus side the BARE newsletter has made me giggle. Oh to be a panel manager!0

As a side issue to the above (which I agree is totally ridiculous), are they seriously suggesting that if you get a drive thru and complete the job as per the brief - but then you (for example) park up in their car park and wait for your partner to meet you - that invalidates your report??? So all your timings were wrong then, just because you met someone in the car park afterwards???
Better make sure none of us ever meet up with friends after we've finished a job then. Can you imagine how unfair it would be if you go and get a holiday quote and then go and meet a friend outside? Clearly the entire quote would be invalid then, wouldn't it???? :rotfl:0 -

That's a good way of doing it - to be fair if someone else has double posted at the same time, I doubt this would be a problem for anyone - I guess you would just get sent two alerts at nearly the same time?0
