I got a cuve for xmas (8900) and e mails come through straight away.
Im still getting to grips with it but there are a few glitches -
You can book jobs on GFK but you cant open the briefing notes.
You can access grassroots jobs but not book them.
Im sure there is software to sort this out but I havent had time to look into it yet.
The stopwatch is superb does unlimited splits and then you can just e mail the results to yourself. Fantastic.
The satnav is also a godsend if you are in the big city and lost.
And I make all my notes on the memo pad function now - its a lot easier than carrying around pads and such. And ive alsways got it to hand if i get a daily RE enquiry about "You didnt say if Sarah was male or female".0 -

If you've got your phone in your handbag/pocket it doesn't beep at you to say you have just received an email. The Blackberry apparently does. Correct me if I'm wrong, please, as I would much prefer an iphone.
The Blackberry is one of the few phones that "push" emails (i.e. they come staright to your phone without you having to log into the email appication). The iPhone doesn't. When you shop for a handset, you will need to look for one that isn't just "good for email", but actually pushes email. You can set these up to cover multiple email accounts (with more than one email provider).0 -

There seem to be problems with pdf files and such on mobile phones. Despite serious hunting around for an affordable handset that can do everything I want it to do, I have not yet managed to find one. Every so often, I start my search again. I want a phone that does eveything I can do on my laptop with wireless! Very exacting shopper that I am!:o0 -

When you get a new email it vibrates but it doesn’t make a loud enough sound if it was in your bag which is a shame. The icon shows you how many new messages you have then you just press the mail icon and it automatically opens up your email inbox without having to log in each time.

Its not just Blackberrys which do this. I have a Nokia E71 and it beeps when an email comes through. You can set how often it checks for emails and when, so I have mine set up to check every 15 minutes from 9am to 10pm (I don't want to know during the night so I don't want it to beep and wake me up!). I don't have to be logged into the application, the messages are pushed through automatically. I have a different beep to text messages, so I know if its email or text which has been received.
