Standard Life Shares

What you need to do to get your bonus shares- If you hold your shares in the Standard Life Share Account, you don't need to do anything to receive your bonus shares. We will automatically add your bonus shares to the shares you already hold. You will see this on your annual statement – this will be part of the information we plan to send you at the end of July.
- If you are a certificated shareholder, you don't need to do anything to receive your bonus shares. We will send you a new share certificate which shows you the number of bonus shares you have been awarded.
- If you hold your shares through a nominee, the nominee will need to claim bonus shares on your behalf by 10 July 2010. If they don't do this by 10 July 2010, you will lose your entitlement to any bonus shares.
More on Standard Life's website
and according to the Guardian:
"Those with shares in the Standard Life Share Account will receive their bonus shares by July 12, while shareholders with certificates will receive further certificates from July 23."

Price seems to be falling at the moment (currently 325p) - is this likely to be down to the bonus issues and would those of you who know what you are talking about expect this to be a minor blip and for them to rise again.
(I know you don't have crystal balls)
We had a dividend payout recently but I've heard mention of another soon after the bonus shares are allocated - is this true or just wishful thinking?
There is also talk of the shares being undervalued - how do people know this and what do they think is a more realistic figure?7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
We don't know what is going to happen in the near future.
But the market makers and the institutions will be hoping that small shareholders will sell on this price dip - and some will.
How many sell will determine the extent of the dip. No-one can be sure of our collective psychology. Hence it could be a volatile time. Or not

SL info
If you:
sold all your shares on or before 10 July 2007, you won't qualify for any bonus shares
sold some of your shares on or before 10 July 2007, you will only qualify for bonus shares in respect of those shares you have held continuously from flotation
transferred all or some of your shares to another person to be held for you as your nominee - your eligibility for bonus shares will not be affected
transferred all your shares to someone else – even a member of your family – on or before 10 July 2007, you will not qualify for any bonus shares

If you hold the shares on the 12th September 2007 (ex dividend date), you will be entitled to the next dividend.
The money will probably actually arrive sometime in November..

The bonus shares are showing in mine and my wife's computershare accounts today. 248 for me and 173 for her. I'm planning on holding SL for the long-term.0

I have a physical share certificate but can login here to see that Computershare have updated their records and increased my holding by 5% (-0.9 of a fractional share!) on their systems as well.
I'm somewhat surprised that they did it so quickly and did not wait for a 'record date' - as I presume we could have otherwise traded last week on a T+10 basis for example and still qualified for the bonus!
Now, I just have to wait for the share certificate to physically arrive.. unless I wanted to see immediately using Computershare which I have no intention of doing..

Make sure you get your certificate before you sell them!:rotfl:0

The SL. share price has dropped back a bit as expected calendar event of the bonus shares is soaked up, an overhang of supply, once these are gone we'll see 350+ again, as long as the general equity market stays bouyant.
The demutualisation shares that members were allocated (free shares) are yielding 5.4p + 5.4p (10.8p) this year + a 5% bonus allocation.
I bought some extra at floatation and so have an average buy price of 218p
So my yield on that investment is 10.8/218 * 100 = 4.95%
As long as it's money invested for the long term, 5+ years, then the share price wandering doesn't matter, next year the yield will be increased and the year after that etc.
Caveat - unless SL issue a 'trading is not in line with expectations' type message.
Buy long stay happy
none of the above should be considered as investment advice! If it takes a man a week to walk to walk a fortnight how long does it take a fly with tackity boots on to walk through a barrel of treacle?0 -

I expect the next dividend (November 2007) to be less than 5.4p/share.
This is because the 5.4p was approximately one-half of the total dividend which Standard Life expected to recommend for 2006 had the company been listed throughout the year.
However, normally with many companies (including Standard Life) interim dividends (November) usually represent approximately one-third of the expected total annual dividend (with the final dividend/remainder in May)
That would make (for 2006) a 'full' dividend of 10.8p and one third of this is 3.6p
Though I do expect it to be slightly higher than this (as directors normally increase dividends if the company is doing well) - say by 11%* to 4p/share in November, which would mean the payment next May would be 8p/share..
