Anyone know much about trojans and viruses?

Where is/was the trojan, in the system restore area?
AVG should have stopped it, move to a better free virus scanner.
Cookies are harmless, but a threat to privacy. If you want to stop them collecting in the first place, set your browser to block 3rd party cookies, and delete cookies on exit.!!

Limelight, AVG really isnt particularly good for the vundo trojan. Spybot isnt too hot either (Though it will pick some varients up)
There must be at least 3 people asked you to run malwarebytes now. You said you WERE running it. So asuming you have can you please open malwarebytes and goto LOGS and post the WHOLE of the log?
If you havnt I REALLY recommend you following my instructions as per post #17:idea:0 -
It seems to have gone now, though i used AVG last night and it said it was still there, even after i deleted it, i checked again to make sure and went to be.
Lots of cookies though, so spybot is running now.
As I say above, and I reiterate, you might suspect it has gone - and hopefully it has - but nevertheless run a FULL and complete scan with MalwareBytes and let it find any potential nasties. Hopefully none.0 -
if you know where/what the file is that causing problems (often a trojan) and you try to delete it manually, more often than not there will be an error message saying that the file cannot be deleted because its in use or something. the best thing to do is to download a bit of software called "hijack this" which has lots of special tools for taking back control of your pc. use the "delete upon reboot" function and the file will be deleted next time you start your computer (becuase the process that associated with the file -preventing it from being deletable- has not had time to startup)
this usually fixes my trojan horse problems0 -
also if you can't find the file go through your process manager in the windows task manager for any unfamiliar ones a quick google search will rat out the dodgy ones.0
