My new job - Problems with Boss

To add I would send a quick e-mail that says something like: Hi, I know you are very busy hence my e-mail. Loving the job but could do with some training on a few things like x, y , z etc.
This will then become a document you can bring out in any meeting that may take place be it a grievance raised by you or be it a performance meeting raised by your boss. This document will show that you asked for help.0 -
Hi
Thanks for your replies, I am still having problems she's talking down to me, being very patronizing and making me scared to even speak in case she don't like what I say. Today was the last straw, I'd invoiced something wrong and she told me I had to pay attention and that she's told me countless times.. which she hasn't I felt very upset and luckily it was close to 5pm so when I get in my car I burst into tears! No job is worth this.
I am going to keep a log of things now so when I have an exit interview I'll show it to them. She's a rude lady and I've never felt so stupid in my entire life!

Have you reported her for bullying and harassment?
Have you checked the company policy? We all evolve - get on with it0 -
Hi OP
I'm going to be a little vague about my own situation as you never know who could be viewing an open forum like this.
Basically, I'm a highly experience person who took a new job last year and from day 1 encountered the type of thing you are experiencing.
I have done a log- and it is extensive- detailing like a diary the problems I had and my feelings about what was happening. It contains many emails sent by boss/bully threatening me. I took it to HR and made a formal complaint but it takes ages and the rest of the staff have tended to 'side' with the boss/bully.
The stress has been unbelievable and HR have already told me that it's unlikely that boss/bully will be sacked-so I wonder what the point is. Sometimes I think that unless they stab you in front of 1,000 witnesses that the boss/bully always wins.
In conclusion, corporate support only goes so far and so I would go before your previous employer can't give you a reference.
PM me if you need more support0 -
Oh my what a shame. I know this might not help in the heat of the moment but she is obviously suffering from low self esteem. She thinks agression is how you earn respect and withholding information is power. You could easily destroy her with a few choice words. Just imagine you have a solid core of confidence in your body and she can never get to you. I'd feel sorry for her cos she will never gain respect I bet if you scratch the surface she's been bullied in the past. I would be ultra nice to her and understanding. They don't like that.
Sorry wish I had the ideal instant solution.
Good luck you are worth 100 times more than her.0 -

There is always two sides to a story and you have to have hard evidence of wrong doing and even then it may not be a sackable offence.Always ask ACAS0 -
there is a manager like this where i work...rules through fear and even her boss tip toes around her. i used to work on her team and heaven help you if you needed to book a day off! she was worse with new starters, i think she likes to stamp her authority at the beginning and backs off a bit after that. 8 years later i still dread it when i have to speak to her, despite me now being on the same level as her!
you've had some good advice here and i wish you well....keep that diary - even if you get another job you can still let HR know what a nighmare your boss is.
be strong, don't let the bully ruin your life x0 -
First and foremost, I suggest you make a list of what you feel you need training in/more training for.
Email or send a memo to your Manager outlining these items and fix up a convenient time for her to go through them with you.
I would explain the the email/memo that you feel that training/further training is needed in order to effectively carry out your role.
If this doesnt happen, or she refuses, I would then launch a grievance via your HR Department.0 -
Thanks for your advice all of you, it's been very well received, and now I've stopped crying (what a wuss) I think I'll ask her tomorrow for more training on invoicing and what I need to be adding and taking VAT away from, as it was not made clear to me!
