oh right, my spark just put the wire in ready for me to put the 3 wires in the holes. DOnt bits myself but didnt realise about that. Best ring him then to get him to come check it etc to be safe. Either way... if all thats ok which im sure it is... still need to get more pressure. What if I made the pipe in the loft go up higher towards the roof so the drop to the shower is longer, would that build pressure up?
Innother words the completed circuit with the shower on the end has NOT been properly tested. Yes I'd give him a ring if I were you.

No it wouldn't increase pressure and in any case it should have MAINS water. You have a mains supply in your roof its what tops that tank up. Teeing off the WHB tap supply was a mistake. Run the tap, flush the loo = no water to shower!

Oh sorry - thats what I had interpreted from earlier posts and I don't think I'm the only one. I'm going to reread it again from the top. BRB.

OK post numbers 6, 15 and 16 sorta suggested you have a Cold Water Storage Tank in the roof.

This Q will clear it up. If you do not have a tank in the roof do you have a combi boiler? If you do the whole house should be at mains pressure and you are stuck with what the water company supply. If its an old house with water mains not having been upgraded it could be as low as 1 Bar. If its nice shiny new mains in the street it could be between 7 and 10 Bar. The UK average is 3 bar dropping down a bit at peak times.

Now one prob is that Thames Water (for example) frequently get a serious ear bashing over their leakage rates. They have deliberately reduced the street level pressure to reduce the amount they lose to leakage (its a phenomenal number around 900,000,000 litres a day or something like that) and such pressure reduction will affect upper floor pressure.

You really need to measure the pressure where it enters the building (if you have a plumbed in washing machine screw the pressure guage onto the WM tap) and it sounds as though you should also measure it in the ensuite as well.

If its that low upstairs don't even consider pumping it as you may NOT pump mains.

    HTH

Duh! BTW as its in the roof and doesn't matter from a visual perspective next time you have it drained down replace the ballofix isolating valve with a full bore lever arm type like this one:

A ballofix will restrict your flow irrespective of pressure.

I think some main points to pick up on here:

All electric showers should be installed of the rising main and as far as I am aware your not allowed to add a pump to the rising. The diagrams and instructions for this are in every electric shower box you buy.

The Installation of the electric shower should have been tested and certified after the electric shower was installed. This not only tests that the shower is working properly but also makes sure the wiring and the RCD protection is installed correctly.

If you are not wanting to install a cold water feed from the rising main then the point about a power shower running off the hot and loft fed cold pipe would probly be the way forward to increasing your pressure.

    Best of luck
