For the simple task of playing tunes downloaded from the likes of Amazon, or ripped and converted from CD. If someone wants to do more that is up to them, and Ipod, Zune et.al are there if you want them.0

Err.... what about the iTouch 1st Gen?It's so good, Microsoft discontinued it.
If it WAS sooo good, why didn't Apple issue a software update (yes, I know about 3.0) and continue to sell it?
Probably because they wanted to incorporate more features and enhance the user experience (as does pretty much every company renewing their hardware (including Microsoft))
I am struggling to find a suitable case for my 1st Gen, and am having to make do with some dodgy case I bought from TK Maxx (diso!!!! designer store in UK) for £10.The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

Best misspelling of discount ever!
Back on track, are Zunes actually sold officially in the UK now?
They do look like decent devices but I suspect they'll be forever in the shadow of the iPod.It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

The subsequent iPod Touch models are all updates to the 1st gen model. The Zune HD is not an update to the original Zunes.
Regardless, I doubt even the Zune HD will be around for much longer. It's not selling very well. After the initial flurry of excitement, it's currently only the 28th highest selling PMP on Amazon. The 1st to 12th best selling products are all iPods of one form or another.
Certainly not a strong showing given that Christmas is next week.0 -

Well that was rather my point. A cheap mp3 player from Argos will not do the same things as an iPod can.0
