Make it compatible with Windows Media Player, then the problem goes away. You can't download the file until iTunes is installed. iTunes may be popular, but it uses Mac only format, give it time and this won't be the most popular format around. Apple always peaks, and is then overtaken by other products and format.0 -

If it works with the Windows version of iTunes, by definition it's not "Mac only." And that is just the version of the podcast aimed at iTunes users. The PSP link has a file that can be played by anything. Didn't you try that before posting?
The link in the post by Martin takes you to the iTunes website, and if you don't have iTunes installed, then you can't download the file until installed. Although it's a Windows version, the software has been written by Apple.0 -
It's possible to download the podcast without Itunes. But since the feed address isn't posted in the first post, I have to assume there is a reason - so I can't post it either.
If this trial is for Itunes only we have to respect that - but hopefully if it becomes permanent the feed address can become available for collection with any podcatching software.
It would then be possible to play it with any non-apple software capable of playing .mov formats - and there are a few of them0 -

I will then wait until a NON Apple/Mac/iTunes version is made available. Lets face it, there a more version of Windows Media Players out there than any other media player software. Apple=BETAMAX Windows=VHS !!!0 -

Ipod has what? 75% of the US market? Not sure about the statistics for how many of them are Video - or what the situation is in the UK
and it is the standard that most video podcaster have adopted. I'm not a huge Apple fan - far from it - I won't download from Itunes store because I don't want DRM restricting me to using Apple software in the future.
My point just was that .mov is the standard that the vast majority of people can use (Even with Qicktime alternative if Quicktime is not for you).
It would be nice if many formats were available - in the same way as it would be nice if all pages on the site always worked for Firefox/Opera rather than being optimized for IE. But I think it's understandable that only so much time and effort can be spent on such things.0 -
alexjohnson wrote:Your Windows vs. Mac comments aren't as funny as you think they are, and they're wrong: the iPod represents 80% of the MP3 player market.
Give it time, and you had wished that you hadn't bought your ipod...0 -
alexjohnson wrote:Good grief! What part of "or on your PSP" - in Martin's original post, with a link - don't you understand? It links to an MP4 file - that would be an open standard, by the way.
The link directs you to download and install iTunes. Where's the link for the file itself?0 -
just wanted to say that my vote is for this to be a regular feature of the site. i didn't notice the psp link, so spent ages trying to convert the ipod m4v version to mp4 for my psp. have found it now, so thank you.
please keep it up, it's brilliant, and you're a natural in front of the camera.MFW Newbie - #17. (#116 in 2019)

psp download is last weeks email starting with loyalty points. ipod download is this weeks starting with be kind to your bank.
any idea? (and interestingly how can they both be the 'first' ever video podcast?:D they had to have been filmed at two different times - they are at two different locations:D, one had to be done first)
thanksMFW Newbie - #17. (#116 in 2019)

And as far as I know the chart is based on new subscribers!
(Sorry for the repeated chart updates - but I know a lot of people can't see the chart because they don't have Itunes)0
