A warning to drivers!

Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd send you all a little warning about mad crash cash crazy drivers out there......
On Sunday I witnessed a guy doing a crazy manuever.... he basically made a u-turn into on coming traffic and smashed into a car. He got out of his car and started making all sorts of claims about the damage to his car and how much his back was hurting. On Thursday, almost the exact same thing happened to my sister, luckily, no one in her car was hurt, though her car is still crying.... The other driver was complaining of backache, when my sister disputed this, he started to get aggressive.
This morning, a guy made an emergency stop for no apparent reason and I went into the back of him. As far as I was concerned it wasn't a big collision (it didn't even wake my baby up in the back seat). There's a little damage to my front grill and the light on his reg plate broke. He got out of the car and was ready to have a huge row. He accused me of doing damage to his car that I know was already there before the crash (he had black and white paint scratches on his car, my car is bright blue!). He then started complaining of backache!!!!!

Obviously, there's not much anyone can do in these circumstances, but just be extra vigilant on the roads! There are alot of greedy, selfish, crazy bxxxxxds out there!!!!!

Peace & Love

Please ensure you keep a safe stopping distance between you and the car in front of you at all times. :)

  • thanks for the warning but i dont really know what i can do other than drive like i normally do!
  • Its been in the news recently about these scams - where the driver later claims more damage has been caused than it actually had at the time of the accident.

If I'm ever involved in an accident, I intent to take photographs on my phone of the damage to the other person's car for proof - they can't stop you, you're gathering evidence for your insurance company!

I don't think it's a scam. That is the normal standard of driving in that area :D

Joking aside there have been insurance scams regarding staged accidents, and inflated ambulance chaser claims for injuries to bogus passengers. See here for more details:

Let's be careful out there (Sgt Esterhaus Hill St Blues)

I agree that this scam occurs but what are the chances of one person seeing one happen, have a relative involved in one and then have it happen to them all within the space of 10 days?

In areas where the scam is operating quite good, especially if the standard of driving is as bad as you say, many minor shunts gives fertile ground for this.
