I hear/read this quite a lot about people missing deliveries, but I do not see why a delivery driver/postie would pre-write the card?
How do they chose which drops to pre-write, as surely they could not drive back to the depot with a full load again?

What do they stand to gain from a missed delivery, besides an extra minute writing a card, and possibly a return trip the next day?

Maybe those extra minute through the day give a nice long lunch or early home time. Maybe he doesnt like standing in the cold for a minute waiting for an answer so he pre-writes the card in his warm van, lightly knocks, oh looks like no one is home. Maybe hes anti social or grumpy and doesnt like talking to people. Who knows. All i know really is that my house was choc-a-block and no one heard anything dispite hearing the royal mail postie clearly.

DHL didn't even bother coming to my house, just sent a 'we couldn't deliver' card through RM, which meant me missing the the delivery altogether and it being sent back.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • UKMail did this to me yesterday. Found the card at 10am.. someone had been in and up since 3am and not a peep heard... doorbell certainly didn't ring.

There's no problem with entry, but it is hard to find the address. I've had plenty of other DHL deliveries that haven't been a problem though.

  • I've just had a confirmation email to say it will be delivered on the 17th. Although i cant be sure i think its my new 02 broadband router etc. Which i hope will be delivered early because thats the day its meant to be switched on.
  • There is no advantage at all to a courier writing a card and taking a parcel back to the depot. I know, I live with one.

This is the second time today I've stuck up for my other half on a MSE post, I hope he appreciates it!
  • I once bought some garden benches off Ebay and when they didn't arrive, rang the seller. He said they had tried to deliver the day before. I told him I was in all day, the bell hadn't rung and there was no card.

Him: 'Well they don't always leave one because people ignore them (??!!).' (Presumably a lot of people don't actually want the stuff they order:rolleyes:)

They were due to deliver the next day but didnt - I was in all day and no card left - so I rang seller again. Him: (Gritted teeth) They have definitely been.' Er, no they haven't.

A guy in an unmarked van delivered the next day and told me he'd been subcontracted because the (unnamed firm) was so busy.

I was happy with the product so left postive feedback but said the courier used was 'dubious.' The seller left me (my first ever) negative feedback saying 'Customer dubious.'

Don't ever buy teak garden furniture form the North East off Ebay...
