Dhl - sorry we missed you.

i was struggling where to post this ut i thought all you ebay users would be the best bet. Anyway i have been buying non stop online for christmas and was expecting a few packages today.

Anyway the royal mail man came at 11ish and delivered two packages. Since then 4 people have been in my house doing their thing. Anyway about 2pm someone is leaving and we notice a DHL 'sorry we missed you card'. How on earth did we miss him? I have a sneaky suspicion he had written the card before even checking, knocked lightly then sneaked away. There was no way he tried to get an answer.

Anyway thats not the main thing. How do i get them to redeliver? It only mentions collecting from their centre but i havent got a car and its quite a distance since i have to travel further away from the area to get an adjoining bus journey.

ps. should i complain?

Same thing happened to me but another despatch company and not DHL. I phoned and complained and they came right back and redelivered it. Royal Mail did this to me too and came up with the excuse that they had tried to deliver parcel the day before but forgot to put the card through the door so put it through the next day. I think you should phone to tell them and see what they propose (then complain if not acceptable to you)

look on the back of the card

you have collecting, redelivery & exchange options on the back
  • there is only collecting and exchange options on the back. It says nothing about redelivery.

I suppose i'll phone tommorow morning and see what they say.

Nope mine definately doesnt have a redelivery option on the card. But the link worked and it looks like i have to wait another two days. Under special instructions i wrote "make sure to knock loudly. there is always someone in"

On the card it says "While you were out a DHL @HOME courier attempted to: (tick box)DELIVER (tick box)COLLECT (tick box)EXCHANGE

He left them blank. Atleast hes not a liar.
  • We had the same thing yesterday - found a card through the letterbox.

On a positive note though, he came back to try again today without any prompting. Next door's alsatian barking at him gave his presence away....

I hear/read this quite a lot about people missing deliveries, but I do not see why a delivery driver/postie would pre-write the card?
How do they chose which drops to pre-write, as surely they could not drive back to the depot with a full load again?

What do they stand to gain from a missed delivery, besides an extra minute writing a card, and possibly a return trip the next day?
<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->
  • I wont need a dog. For the next two days i'll be sitting at the window waiting for him. He wont get away with the same tactic twice. Maybe i'll get the camcorder out and if i catch him playing ninja postman again i'll stick it on youtube :rotfl:
