when the midwife does the 'booking in' appointment (where they ask lots of questions and book you into a hospital, usually when you're around 11 weeks pregnant here but might vary) you should get at least one free guide to pregnancy. my midwife gave me 'emma's diary' which has a card to collect a sample bag from boots, and also gave me a card to collect a 'bounty' pack from mothercare, that had the bounty guide to pregnancy inside the pack. others have mentioned a different pregnancy guide, but i didn't get one.

    congratulations!

oh, the baby magazines usually have a guide too, a week by week explanation of what's happening, with approx sizes and weights, and some little pictures. i got one in prima baby magazine.

  • Babyworld.co.uk has an antenatal club (chat forum) for each month that your wife can join e.g Jan 07 or Feb 07 I guess based on when baby is due. Everyone is at the same stage of pregnancy, so it works well.

They carry on after the birth as long as people keep posting, can be years afterwards if you get a nice group of friendly people.
