hello
my wife is 6 weeks gone with our first pregnancy, is there any books anyone would recommend out there to read up on or is it just a case of waiting and learning from the big task book of life?
or any good websites we should be looking at.
has anyone used the twin births insurance policy? as all down my wives family everyone is a twin and we are unsure as to what to expect, if anyone has bought the insurance and had a trouble free episode with them please let me know
many thanks in advance

Sorry can't help with info I just wanted to say
congratulations
to you both0 -
hi congratulations
I have just had my 3rd, but when preggies with no 1 I found the book My Best Friends Guide to pregnancy one of the funniest and most accurate books, both for me as newly pregnant and hubby so he could be forewarned about mood changes0 -
Hi Congratulations to you both.
My friend swears by the books called "What To Expect When..."
The first one is called What To Expect When You're Expecting" and there's a few more as they get bigger.
Good Luck0 -
I found the Shelia Kitzinger books encouraging and useful.Congratulations, expecting your first baby is a very exciting time,9 months seems like so long to wait.I would encourage you to enjoy as much time doing adult stuff whilst you can, because there are some things that are tricky to do with a baby. When we were three months pregnant with my first,my Mum and Dad bought us a cheap holiday to crete for my 21st b'day, was really good to have that last adult holiday, without having to involve kids,or worry about leaving them behind. We explored big caves, went to roman ruins, sun bathed, hired a moped, ate out till late and indulged in been a couple.Having kids enhances your life hugely, but it does also change your life quite significantly,so enjoy this time whilst looking forward to the new baby(I love babies, and always get broody when I read these threads!!)Good luck with it all,and if I were you get to your local car boot sale! I got just about everything we needed for next to know money for the first couple of years from car boots, and everything was top quality and hardly used, why pay £15 for baby grow when you can get one thats been worn three times by an asleep newborn for 20p?Good luck with it all, excited for you.0

Non identical twins most certainly run down the females side of the family. I think you have to take out the insurance before so many weeks. Look into it. My sister wishes she had;)s30jok wrote:has anyone used the twin births insurance policy? as all down my wives family everyone is a twin and we are unsure as to what to expect, if anyone has bought the insurance and had a trouble free episode with them please let me know

First of all congratulations :T
When I was pregnant with my first last year I had a few books but the one that I found most helpful was "The Rough Guide to Pregnancy and Birth" by Kaz Cooke. It basically tells you everything you need to know but doesn't frighten the life from you! It's very witty and takes you through pregnancy week by week. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Also as an extra I enjoyed "From Here to Maternity: One Mother of a Journey" by Mel Giedroyc. vv funny.0 -
Ditto to "What to expect when you are expecting" - runs through all the months of pregnancy, what size the baby is etc, was by my bedside for all 3 pregnancies. Also, Kaz Cookes Rough Guide, I only had it on my 3rd pregnancy but it was informative and not too heavy!
Good Luck!
