I'm not 'recommending' anything nor am I 'suggesting' this type of heater for whole house heating, storage heating on an E10 tariff where available would be preferable but there are instances when no other heat source is available they are a choice for the odd heater in a property.

I know we're talking about Rointe here but I went looking for used electrical heaters on eBay and was reminded of how "premium" some of the pricing can be.

For example, here's a listing for 9x Fischer (not Rointe) heaters:

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/336749172388

The seller is asking almost £2700, which at £300 per heater seems rather a lot for a convector heater, even if it does have a fancy wireless controller. The listing says they're only 5 years old (now replaced by a heat pump) and the original invoice was for £16000 😱

For comparison purposes, you can buy a perfectly good wall-mounted convector heater with a 7-day programmable timer brand-new from Screwfix for £93:

E10 tariffs are pretty rare these days - and not cheap either.

But Ovo did start re-quoting it late last year iirc - I suspect after doing many RTS conversions to it.

Ironically soon to be EOn - my legacy E10 supplier - who didnt offer it to switchers AFAIK.

Some on EDF E10 (and maybe the super weekend E2020 variant) were getting letters from EDF saying they were abandoning it last year - not sure if actually happened.

But its not cheap at EOn - off peak more expensive than their E7 off peak rates - and to some extent arguably only really needed for old lossy storage heaters like mine or some types of electric heat boilers.

And for ALCS controlled heating their is now a cheaper option than E7 if suits heaters Octopus Snug tariff - 6 hrs night + 1 afternoon - now moving form 9p to 9.5p off peak - and cf E7 - cheaper day rate too.

Modern lot 20 and HHR - normally fine on E7 or Snug - or if wiring suits and Snug not an option e.g. non ALCS and self timed - even possibly better on some modern smart TOU tariffs.

Non storage panels or old style wall mounted fans have their place though - e.g. short term heat boosts in bedrooms/bathrooms etc - for the odd hour morning and night etc - but again HHR solved the problems of excessive heat leakage for bedrooms - but the cost and payback vs a cheap panel for something only feeding 2-3 kWh a day maybe - is an issue.
