Sky provide excellent ADSL along with O2 and Be and a few others. When I mean excellent I mean proper provision.

That's it. There may be some small companies worth going with but if you want good limits and customer services your're dreaming thinking Sky are robbing you.

Sky also provide excellent customer service [from people you can normally understand and who have understanding].

Who can provide you with what: https://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php

I must be the only one in the world with a nasty taste left in my mouth after months of nightmare with Sky!

IMHO, opinions differ depending on personal experience - for one, I'm glad you have a positive view of Sky but I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!

I did notice that you have particular dislike to BT  perhaps, you've had a similar experience with BT as I did with Sky.

Just an update for anyone who may be following this/having similar issues:

We had decided to switch to Be Value so phoned up Sky to cancel the broadband and ask for the MAC code. They said if we switch our calls and line rental to them they would give us free line rental for 12 months, and of course the Sky Mid package would stay at £5 instead of £10. As much as we dislike Sky and would rather keep the phone with BT, the offer was too good to refuse so we went with it.

Fairly happy with the speed now as we got through to their proper tech people during a different call and they tweaked it and put us on their own adsl2+ giving us an extra 1mbps or so.

Then they really have got you. Shortly they will be fully unbundling you. If you decide you want to go elsewhere in a year you will have to go without broadband for a couple of weeks while your phone line is moved back to BT, before you can sign up to a new supplier.

This is one of the reasons why i never left BT for my line rental, members of my family have done this and it was a nightmare to get sorted out later.

TBH sky wern`t bad for the time that i was with them (tv, BB and calls) but when they started to hike the prices i decided to move on. The nightmare started when i wanted the mac code and this is another reason why i shall never go back to them.

I have learnt never to put all my eggs in one basket :D
