Just a quick update for the OP....

I have just bought the one I mentioned in post #3 above. It is an absolute dream to install and works very well, even thought it is relatively near my wireless broadband router. Would highly recommend it, especially for the price.

The Cheaper one from argos? And you can control the Sky Box from them also?

Yes!

Obviously you need the / a remote control upstairs, but it will change channels on your Digi Box downstairs.

I think Philex is a good make for these. Not just Sky but your DVD player and Freeview box as well.
