I have just bought an item worth £23 from a powerseller with over 5000 feedback and 98.8% rating. I paid for it this morning but when i looked back this lunchtime it says that he is no longer a registered user. i have emailed him but have had no response yet.
This is obviously quite worrying as i paid by paypal so he has my money now. has this happened to anyone else here. What kind of recourse do i have? Or do i just have to trust that he will send out the item?

I have seen this before and they have come back. I don't know if the ones I saw were temporarily suspended or something but they did come back.
See if he replies in the next few days and if not I would contact eBay, although as I said I would wait for a while first as he will probably send it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

98.8% feedback is getting worryingly low, maybe they have been suspended for something 'bad' in which case start a paypal chargeback as soon as you can for your money.
Meanwhile, pull his contact details and give him a ring, he may well have already sent your item in which case it should all be fine.

It's possible that the seller hasn't paid their Ebay fees, so they've been kicked until they cough up. If they bring the cash, their account should be re-enabled.
Of course, this is just one of many possibilities...0 -

was the seller aft130 by any chance?
BTW it seems that his contact details are unavailable and i have still not had any response from him after several emails.
With regards to the paypal chargeback, how much will i actually get back if i do this? What if he has emptied his paypal account? How do they recover the funds.0 -
I think you might be getting worried over nothing. I've dealt with ebay sellers who have had very high feedback but people leave negatives for all kinds of stupid reasons when e.g. pressed the wrong button, lost in the post, just being funny, don't realise what they are doing.
You will get all your money back presuming they haven't cleared out their account. It is probably a payment fee problem for them. I'd email them a couple of times and if no geniune response then go into
1. https://www.paypal.com
2. Go to Resolution Centre
3. Click file dispute

I was suspended from ebay recantily and buyers were able to contact me through messages on the ebay site. I believe they went through the page from their purchases and pressed contact member. There could be a genuine reason that there account is suspended and if they havea lot of feedback I would imagine it is in their intereast to get their account reacctivated. If you have no success with the messages contact ebay directly and get the details. You are unable to do a chargeback until the item has not been recieved I believe within a week but am a bit rusty.
Try not to worry I sent my items no problem to the buyers I had, but it might be hard for the suspended seller to get your details ( as they cant access this part of their account ), I was lucky I had printed off payment details prior. Also if you paid by paypal you should have a record of their email address on your payapl payment- if you look at the reciept so you can email directily. Good luck0
