Black-saturn - can the maltloaf be frozen?
Sorry I have never frozen it myself but I would presume it would be OK.

i love readin black saturns post. i still can't get my head around how little she spends and i so wish i could be like that. but since finding mse i am much more frugal..
anyway i am going to try the ice cream as soon as i can afford to buy all the bits. very tight budget this month. but how long will it keep in freezer ? as i don't want to make it , leave it in freezer and then it get wasted.

  • Hi all

I see a number of the recipes on this page require the use of a slow cooker. At present, I don't have access to one of these devices -- just the standard fayre of oven, hob and (ugh) microwave. Having had a poke around John Lewis and Argos websites, the cheapest device I have been able to find is a Cookworks unit:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4207490.htm

Cooking is for two people, three if either of us has someone over, and is always attended. Will this "el cheapo" device fit the bill?

(I look forward to trying these recipes -- many thanks for posting them all!)

Yeah that one looks fine to me.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

that one looks fab. i really want to buy one but a) kitchen tiny and no room left b) bit short of funds.

would a 3 litre one be big enough for family of 4 ? i have no idea on things like this unless i see the item.

also on my cooker i have a slow cook facility. which is even colder than a gas mark 1. now i have a huge stock pot. so my question is , do u think this will do the job like a slow cooker will ? i have in the past made a stew about 7 in morning. put it in on slow and by 6 pm it is ready.

sorry for so many questions i think i am having a dim month.
