The chocolate was potentially lethal, the cat ripping out the stitches was lethal( as it was put to sleep) - I really don't get the comparison at all here
I commented on the semantics, not on whether the chocolate is or is not lethal.
You have a post count of 28, you obviously don't know which of the regulars (?deliberately) make others feel like sh*t, which always make a positive contribution and which of us veer between the two. Spend some time on the board and you will get a feel for the personalities.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I don't have insurance for my cats. Why not? Well for starters, they are indoor, so less likely to get into fights/pick up infection/get run over. We are looking to move house, and if we do get somewhere suitable, the cats will be allowed outside, then I would definatly get insurance. If your cats are indoor there is a lot less chance of them needing to go the vets (unless of course they get cystitus or cancer) Even if my cats were to be let outside, they wouldn't of been until they had been chipped, injections up to date and spayed/neutered, and I wouldn't of got insurance until all that had been done as otherwise you are not covered for any infections they may pick up due to not being up to date on their jags. It was an unfortunate incident that I'm sure the OP didn't forsee (and I for one didn't know a cat would do that too itself, bite the stitches yes, but not actually attack their insides)
When a cat pulls it's intestines out though, is it going to a have good quality of life afterwards? It sounds like serious trauma would of been had to the cats insides. I would question weather it would of had a good life after enduring that, so for me, I would of perhaps had the cat PTS myself (if that had been my cat that done that) and yes I would have funds to pay the surgery (I may not have insurance but I have a few bob stashed away for such things, it's not just a "pet fund" though)0 -

Excuse me, but just because I choose not to post doesn't mean to say I don't spend a lot of time on this fourm
And I have a pair of perfectly good eyes in my head - and glasses just in case I miss anything
I can see bullying a mile away.
I also can not see anything in Ruby Moons post that hasnt been said one way or another, by - should we dare say " more popular posters" and no one has dared drag up any old post of theirs to belittle them.
Post count doesn't make anyone any better then another on this forum or any other.

I find that really repugnant! I cannot imagine my fave vet doing that - or even the money grubbing ****s who took over when she retired. and for a charity vet to do it!!! words fail me.
.
Not much to say on this thread, been reading for a few days. Quite impressed at the speed the cat managed to remove her skin, fat, AND muscle layer sutures to get her intestines out-a very rare and recognised "complication" in spays and cesareans. If the OP did go through the courts I very much doubt they would find the vets negligent. We hardly ever give out buster collars (its not a legal requirement or necessity on most occasions) unless we suspect the animals are the sort that will destroy the lovely wound. I do my cat spays with subcut sutures so they are under the skin and *touch wood* I have never had one breakdown ever.0 -
Buttonmoon, my cats are indoor cats too but, they still have problems and you still need insurance:Why Do I Need Insurance If My Cat Lives Inside?
Some of the major risks that an indoor cat is exposed to are:
Becoming overweight or obese due to lack of regular exercise
Compulsive behaviors such as sucking or excessive licking due to boredom or stress
Ingesting plants, poisons, and cleaning products that are often stored indoors
An indoor cat doesn't have the opportunity to hunt or burn off excess calories that an outdoor cat has. Because of this indoor cats that are overweight can suffer from gastrointestinal problems including constipation and pancreatitis, overexertion of the heart, skin disorders from being unable to clean himself properly, and diabetes .
Cats in general are also susceptible to many chronic illnesses including kidney and bladder problems, heart murmurs, diabetes, and feline asthma. Some of these can become very serious and they become increasingly likely as they get older. Conditions such as urinary tract infections and bladder crystals can also become lifelong problems and can give rise to thousands of dollars in vet bills.
My cat fell out of the window a few weeks ago and disappeared for a few days. When she came back she was covered in motor oil. If she had ingested she could have become seriously ill & possibly cost a fortune in vets bills.
This cats problems were not related to her going outside and the bottom line is that insurance would have saved this cats life.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -

If my cats fell out the window, they wouldn't need to go the vets
I live very high up.
That's a fair point about the things they can get, I know kidney problems are quite common, I have one cat that has always drunk plenty, and the other doesn't drink anything barely!
Thing is though, they are perfectly healthy, the 2yr old is slightly tubby, about 3/4 of a kg overweight, but we are steadily shifting it by a bit less grub and more exercise. The only thing they are OCD about is pen lids and string.
It is a fair point though, how much does insurance cost? I'm not paying out £20 a month on something I probably won't use. Also my cats don't have their jags, I don't let them outside, they can't catch anything but anyways....if I got them insured, and then they got jags later, they still wouldn't be covered for it, yes?
I won't go through an online checker thing as my computer is playing up but if anyone is bored and wants to check for me then I have
2 moggys, nothing fancy.
1 female - 2yrs old
1 male - 9/10 months old
Both been speyed/neutered.
Inside only.
Not up to date on injections.
Is that all you need to know to find out their quotes?0 -
Actually I just did some run ones with different ones, how could the 10month kitten cost more than the 2year old? That makes NO sense at all! They don't even ask you any vital info about it either, just postcode.....0

If you think there is bullying on the forum then it is very important that you report the offending posts using the abuse button. I haven't said said anything about Ruby Moon's post, and I am not going to be drawn into it: my comment to you was on the specific wording used by Cakeordeath, nothing more. :silenced:
As a bystander I don't think this is about what opinions people have or do not have, it's about the way in which those opinions are conveyed. Some people only seem to cast judgements using inflammatory language and never give any constructive advice, others quite the reverse. I have had more PMs since I have been posting on this board from those wanting advice but too intimidated to post freely, than I have had from posting on all the other boards put together. That to me is a crying shame.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
