Lip exfoliation

A bit of an odd request, but I have always wondered if there was a product that I can use on my lips to help with dry skin. I drink loads through the day and use vaseline and lippy, but at this time of year the skin gets dry and horrible looking regardless.
Either a product you can recommend, or a receipe I can make would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I use a toothbrush! Basically when you're brushing your teeth at night use your toothbrush to brush away all the dead skin, until your lips feel tingly. Then smother with Carmex: http://www.mycarmex.com/how-it-works/default.aspx
My lips always look lovely when I do this, and don't forget to use Carmex in the morning and throughout the day too.Foreign politicians often zing stereotypical tunes, mayday, mayday, Venezuela, neck

I find vaseline drys my lips out. I use balm with natural oils as they absorb better. At the moment its Burts Bees and lasts ages. Use a damp flannel and rub gently to get rid of dry flaky bits.0

I don´t know if they still do them, but The Body Shop used to do a lip exfoliator. It was just like a lipsalve/lipstick but had exfoliating grains in and was quite good. If you have one nearby, call in and ask.0

Just the corner of a dry facecloth used gently. I have peeling lips too. Without doubt THE best thing I've used is Vitamin E oil, of which I buy a very viscous pot, and apply as needed. Its taken my poor lips from sore and scabby to amazingly kissable unbelievably quickly, and now they never ever get chapped, the worst is a bit flakey. I also use it occasionally on my skin when the weather is really bad, or when my fussy skin won't contemplate anything else on it.0

my lips are really bad just now too. I usually just let them get better on their own which is really bad! if i am using something though i use vaseline and also a japanese multi use cream called Yu Be.0

I haven't seen that, but B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful do a sugar lip scrub - it's literally a pot of fairly densely packed together sugar that tastes like chocolate (you can get mint chocolate, bubble gum and chocolate orange flavours as well) and you just apply it like a lip balm. It's not the cheapest at £4.50 a pot but it does last for ages.
You could quite easily make one yourself with sugar and lip balm mixed together though if you wanted to be ultra MSE."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
I agree with the toothbrush method, I am also a fan of Carmex but when you fancy something a bit more makeup like the glosses you get in the tube with a jelly like consistency are great and never dry out lips unlike other glosses or lipstick, top of the bunch is Lancome Juicy Tubes however even the cheapest ones work really really well:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Hi was glad to spot this as i am suffering today and dont usually but not sure if i becoming resilient to my normal vaseline as seem to be putting it on constantly and needing more, I use the green one and the pink one. I dont tend to like chapstick type ones as find them kind of sticky/smeary..!
Glosses for me i don't like, they are too sticky and although they stop me licking my lips too much i just find them yuk! we got one on our last cruise free in our baskets of goodys and i loved that one..think it was a molten brown one but unsure..hope they have them on our next one as have run out!..slightly glossy but not sticky.
As for the vitamin e i may try..is it in a stick or just bottle in which case i guess you use at night?..if not the flannel sounds like a good idea as i seem to have shares in them!!
Thanks0 -

Mine is exactly that, a stick in a bottle. I use it morning and night, which is fine, or more often if I can, which is better, It makes a nice lipgloss too...but lifts any stain underneath, so nude only
you can also buy it as swallowable capsules, and put a pin in the end, for one time application..
the stuff in the bottle does almost always go off before I can finish a bottle
