Yes you can brown the mince and onion and cook it in a cassarole dish if you like. Although I do it all in the saucepan.

As for the chilli's I de-seed mine chop them up and throw them in.

Well my saucepan isnt that big.I looked today in some shops, but what i was looking for and my colleague were two different things lol. so casserole dish seemed a good stop gap for now. Not sure how long to cook for. my recipe for in a pan said on a low heat for 40mins with the Lid on. Would you say the same for in the Oven ,f I put it on about 140degrees.?
Depends if i intend going for a run after ive half made it lol so it can cook slow.

I intend to maybe add some soya mince-depending on how much liquid there is with the 2tins of chopped tomatoes. maybe im added too much anyway without the need to use soya mince, not sure

oh and kidney beans, maybe sweetcorn.
I bought a bad of red lentils as i see lots of people use these to bulk things out.

Any advice on how long to cook them?

Do you know what sprt of chillis they are?

If just regular I would use maybe two finely chopped - but make sure you scrape out the seeds - they are the really hot bit. Wash your hands after handling them. I never do and then I rub my eye later that night and it stings like mad ;) i'll never learn.

Then once it's all cooking away have a taste. If it's not hot enough - just add some chilli powder to taste.

Golden rule: you can always add heat but you can't take it away.

For a twist try caramalising your onion by just adding some sugar. this will add a nice sweet edge to it - akin to a traditional chilli which has chocolate added towards the end of cooking (high cocoa choc not Cadburys choccy buttons).

Some people would probably kill me for this but alongwith kidney beans I like to throw in some Heinz Baked Beans.

to bulk it up add extra rk beans (or any other beans you have handy) and your sweetcorn. Probably I'd use 2 chillis and then if it's not quite hot enough you could add a little tabasco. Fry mince and then add onions and chillis ( you could also add diced carrot and celery). fry together and then put in casserole dish with beans, tomatoes and seasoning. Cook about 150 - 175 for an hour or so.

I usually use about 4 chillies.

    Mince
    Garlic
    Onions
    Tinned tomatoes
    Tinned Kidney beans
    Mushrooms
    Chillies
    Ground Corriander
    Ground cinamon
    Ground Cumin
    Tumeric
    Balsamic vinegar
    Paprika

I soften the onions, garlic and mushrooms in the pan. Then add the mince. Once browned I add all the other ingredients.

It can be quite thick so I add water and/or pasatta. Cook for about 40mins
It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice
