ASDA Warning for ONLINE Shopping

That's ridiculous, that can't be right, it sounds like something has gone wrong within the system and the people on the other end of the phone have no idea what they're talking about and can't be bothered to find out what's gone wrong.
Otherwise how on earth can Asda justify a system like that? It could cause real problems in people's lives (no money to pay bills etc.) if they had to make sure there was double the amount of their online shop in their bank accounts free for Asda to unjustifiably freeze at will just in case some products aren't in stock (as I'm assuming most, if not all bills will vary slightly as substitutes would cause the bill's total to fluctuate even if only by a few pence).
In fact I'm almost postitive the people you've talked to over the phone are feeding you a pack of lies, probably because they can't be bothered to try and fix the problem. I would phone them back and, if it comes to it, prepare for a screaming match, because there's no way that policy can be correct (I would even question whether it was legal!).
I hope this is sorted out a lot quicker than they're telling you - missing £115 especially at this time of the year is the last thing anyone needs!0 -
Why would I not substitute? isn't it the not substituting that has caused the problem? Asda price match, so i get charged the same amount regardless, unless i refuse the substituted item at the door, in which case they then refund my money for that item.0

ive had endless problems with asda in the past year:mad: however non like yours, as far as im aware i dont think its standard, iv never had it happen i order before pay day (with no money in bank) and have delivery on payday as they always take the money out the morning of the day your shopping is due so they know the right cost.if i was you the best way iv found to deal with a online asda problem is not to ring the helpline at the top of the letter:mad: they are useless, find out which local shop your shopping is sent from and ring them and ask to speak to the manager of the home shopping dep my local one is sick of hearing from me im sure of this as they had endless phone calls every week about my shopping, every time i called it was, oh hello again mrs smith:rotfl: since me kicking off so much my shopping has been right for the past 4 weeks so a good rant does get you somewere hun as long as its to the right person:T0

Can I just add to this thread that it is standard policy for Asda to seek authorisation from the bank when the original order is confirmed and then to seek authorisation from the bank for the amount that is actually delivered on the morning of delivery
I bank with the co-operative and they know the problem exists and have contacted asda to stop them doing this but they wont. The original payment never actually comes out of the account and is refunded after 10 days but its not the point it shouldnt happen in the first place.Thankfully I have a lovely bank who realise the problem and will recredit the account before the 10days are up but other banks arent as obliging. So as a result I no longer online shop with asda

Yes thats right. I spent nearly an hour on the phone and they told me ,(well actually 5 different people told me) that this is standard practice and its my fault for refusing substitutes.
I will never use them again. EVER!0 -
Sorry must clarify.
The problem is because I would NOT substitute, I was very upset this morning when I posted and I still am. The money is frozen in limbo because the bank can't release it without ASDA telling them to for 10 days and ASDA are still saying they don't release it I have to wait. Have now spent over 1 and half hours on the phone and they still insist this is standard practice. I have spoken to 5 different people in both customer services and accounts. All say the same.

Hi it shouldn't take 10 days to go back to your account normally a max of 5 I realise that this isn't helpful but better than 10. Can I suggest that you get Asda to fax your banks merchant helpdesk and ask for them to release the funds this should speed things up dramatically.0
