I must admit that they do walk the dog a lot. When they walk it I think they take it for a long walk and not just round the block. Im more concerned with the amount it howls and therefore how much it is being left alone.
  • We have a 6 month Weimaraner and we only leave her on her own for an hour or two at the most, when we were first looking for a puppy one of the first things that breeders would ask is if someone would be in with her during the day and if she was to be left on her own, how long would it be for. They are well know for their seperation anxiety and its very irresponsible of your neighbour to have a dog of this kind if they are going to leave it on their own for so long each day. They obviously know something about the breed as they have had more than one.

This is an old post but I couldn't help read it and hope that you have resolved your issues with the dogs barking.

I would do as the others have suggested and let them know that their dog is howling but record it because they may think you are just being over sensative. A little dogs bark is just as annoying as a large breed personally I can't stand the yapping of a terrier drives me barmy.

If your at home alot during periods when they are out and if your own dog and theirs is sociable then why don't you offer to dog sit? They may appreciate it, the dogs will benefit from having company and you may find in time given the way a Weimaraner is very person focused that you'll get just as attached to their dog as they are.

Everyone is entitled to a life including a social one dog owners or not and the fact that they are popping back to walk their dog does show they are considerate and may not be aware that their is an issue. Sometime the noise that you make when the house is quiet maybe what is setting the dog off although they do suffer from seperation anxiety it is curable for the majority.
