we are in herne bay how about you? i take it your around ashford as your looking at eastwell manor and the secret gardens :)

have you looked at the holiday inn they have a nice looking one some where in ashford it has old looking beams and things like that and do weddings for a grand, two grand , and three grand :)

Thanks yes im in ashford but from the south west so weve been looking at places all over the country. we had found somewhere to elope to in scotland as outside weddings with a humanist are legal there but then we dont get to have anyone there. so trying to find something outside near us (ie under a terrace or a gazebo - stupid english laws!) that we can afford. dont want anything traditional so a holiday inn etc isnt going to be suitable for us as just a few guests and want to be outside with a picnic - no top table sit down meal speeches white dress bridesmaids or any of that. ive got a billion ideas but we just need to find a suitable place and budget is supposed to be a £1000. I had tried the hall idea but the one I found was only £100 less than eastwell manor :eek: and you still have to decorate it so that idea is well and truly not happening as our budget would have covered the hall and decorations but not the ceremony or anything else we need :rotfl:

  • not sure where how far you want to go but i loved kingston barn its just outside canterbury and was £250 for the barn for the evening before the day and the morning after if i am correct and it included use of the kitchen, cutterly chairs and tables and had a nice balconey where you could have photos and right out side it was a large playing field with play park which is connected to the venue and you could use the link is http://www.kingstoncanterbury.co.uk/barn.html

you would really need to view it to actually like it :) but its really old and the village is nice :) x

has everyone else got something booked now? we are still looking for something suitable for us. found something 50 miles away and not in Kent that we thought would be perfect as all emails had been great and they could accommodate our needs. partner was even excited and we asked to view and now they have backtracked on the main points and cant do a half day wedding (its mid week) or afternoon tea. if we now want the venue we have to pay the full day fee which means we cant afford it plus I cant justify paying for evening use when we wont be there then :(. so i am feeling very tearful as we have been trying to find something ideal for about 2 years :( one of our main issues is divorced parents etc etc so just trying to arrange an informal garden party as if parents have to wear certain clothes or do top table stuff and speeches I know they wont come. im not usually like this but its all got to me this time and I just feel like we shouldnt even get married as its too much hassle and so far not been enjoyable at all :(:(:(
  • oh honey i know exactly how you feel with the parents being divorced we in the end decided that they can be grown ups and sit on a head table together as i wanted one and they have to like or lump it so they are liking it hehe.

how about this place http://www.dodevillage.com/The%20Venue.htm it looks a bit different maybe you'd like this :)

what place have you found 50 miles away honestly there is so much in kent its silly x

Angel, don't get downhearted. Kent is a big place and lots of us are reasonably local. Is Tunbridge Wells too far away? If not my friend has just got married at The Spa http://www.spahotel.co.uk/ She had 'afternoon tea' there as her reception and reg office in T Wells is quite pretty too http://www.akentishceremony.com/uk/register-office/venue7 which will save a bucket on Reg fees at hotel. The gardens at the Spa are lovely for photos too
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:
