hello
i found my dream venue and then found out that it was booked for that day so now am looking for another venue that doesn't go over £3000 for 80 people to have a sit down 3 course meal.
any help would be brilant i'm losing hope

I can only tell you one to avoid (but you know about this one already lol!!)
Is there any way you can change the date of the wedding or is there a reason why you would like that date inparticular?
Are you looking for reception only or an all day affair? Have you considered golf clubs as loads in the Sandwich area. Princes Golf Club was recommended to me recently by a friend although its changed hands since then and they have different caterers - she said that it was a good price at the time, not sure about now though!!
I will be keeping an eye on your thread to see if you have much response as we will hopefully be able to look next year.0 -
no we could change the date but as it is so close to xmas i'm not sure many people would be able to get say the 20th of december off which is a monday while lots of people dont work on saturdays so the 18th was ideal. found a few but they dont seem on par
i'm looking ramsgate, margate, whitstable , herne bay, canterbury , faversham, ashford, and all little towns / villages near by if thats any help
i'm open to barns halls houses sailing clubs etc0 -
Salmestone grange in margate is beautiful. I had my dad's wake there, and my friend got married there a few weeks ago. The staff are lovely and the food is tasty0

I heard that too!!! Not sure about price of food etc but only heard good reports so may be on my possible list too (if/when the time comes)!.
Fly dragon fly - are we talking about 2010? I presume so otherwise it would be a little tricky to organise in such short space of time for 2009!! However, 2010 seems to be getting booked up too. I know that having a weekday wedding isn't always ideal but if people are given enough notice, I am sure they may be able to take the day (or two off), especially if you had it after schools broke up (if anyone has children). The bonus of weekday weddings is you usually get quite a massive reduction in price and there are more days to choose from. Its not for everyone though but worth serious consideration especially if there is any way you could still book at your dream venue on another date!
I wont suggest any other venues as I have no personal knowledge of any in the area and it would just be me googling it!!! Good luck though, I hope you manage to find something.0 -
Dragon, just to second what Beks is saying as I am also in Kent, if you're looking at a 2010 date you really need to get skates on, my venue has every friday and saturday is booked for Oct and Nov and no date free in Dec, yet its only a tiny hotel, which is not manys first choice as can only hold max of 60 for sit down meal!!!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

how mad i have literaly logged in and put a new thread asking about midweek weddings and whether people would attend.
as a lot of places are a lot cheaper midweek than on a saturday and i like to money save and it would show who really wanted to be at my wedding
and yes 2010 sorry didn't mention that0 -
Ha ha!! Read your mind!! Yes, I do think mid week weddings are the way to go!!! Definitely money saving!!! If you choose a date sooner rather than later and send out save a date cards then more people are likely to be able to come.0
