How about the Friday before?? Just a thought as the friday was actually our first choice of day. Most people will welcome the chance to make it a 'long' weekend and then you can spend the whole weekend recovering LOL
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:
  • Hiya,

just a few ideas to throw out there in that area (though I don't know any of the costs, and some are a bit further away):
couldn't remember if you'd booked your ceremony but Theatre Royal Margate is a very cool and unusual place for the ceremony&buffet (not sit down meal though as they don't have a room for it, I asked!), went to a wedding there recently and it was absolutely stunning!
The Walpole Bay Hotel, Cliftonville (Margate), The Pavilion (Broadstairs), Pines Calyx (St Margaret's Bay), Mount Ephraims Gardens (Faversham).
I recommend looking at the KCC run website 'A Kentish Ceremony' as they have every place that is registered for weddings. I think there is also a 'Special Offers' section where you can find some deals.
Just started looking for my own wedding and had a brief look at these ones. Anyway, good luck!

This isn't that helpful but I'm sure there are plenty of beautiful places in Canterbury! It depends what kind of thing you're going for your first night as well, I stayed in an amazing little hotel in Canterbury once with small, sloping floors etc but you would probably want something more luxurious :) anyway, I hope it all works out well for you!

Never thought of walpole bay, did you see it on hotel inspector? :rotfl:Hadn't considered theatre royal either but it would certainly be somewhere different. The pavilion is minimum of 100 people for wedding breakfast so seriously expensive, would be lovely though but you do need to fill it to get the full benefit or you'll be lost. I haven't heard of the other places but good luck in your search and congratulations :T
  • Thanks Loonytoons!
I just thought of something else I've looked up. The Thanet Leisureforce website covers Northdown House (Cliftonville), Margate Winter Gardens (Margate, obviously!) and a place in Dover who all do weddings. See what you think!

Thanks for those ideas Bargain Queen!!! (sorry f-d-f, I am poaching ideas from your thread! ;)).
Going to have a look at some of those suggestions once I feel like getting in the swing of it again! The one I have looked at is Pines Calyx (its in our village) and I loved it (it has an eco theme and gardens are stunning - although a little worried about the pond with children about). The cost was a little high and the two rooms (dance floor and seating) were separated onto 2 levels. Really fell in love with it though but my head took over and we booked elsewhere (look where that got us!!! ;):p:o:eek:!!!! ) I will take a nosey at the other suggestions, thank you.
  • thanks for more suggestion :) northdown house was the place i wanted i loved it and it was in budget for everything but it was just the date.

am thinking a friday maybe good as its a late wedding (4pm to be exact) so people would only need to take a few hours of rather than a whole day :)

I think this is a lovely location for a wedding. Stunning setting next to the sea:

This was exactly our thinking with a Friday wedding, close family coming to the wedding itself at 3.30pm, evening guests seem pleased with the idea that they get saturday AND sunday to recover :D
