Something else to think about regarding Carers' allowance.
Effect on other benefits and entitlements
Claiming Carer's Allowance may affect any other benefits, allowances, pensions and entitlements you, or the person you care for, are receiving.

Do you recieve the care componant of DLA at middle or higher rate?
If not no one can claim carers allowance, if yes then someone may if they fulfil the rest of the CA criteria.
Hearing is a bodily function and you can claim the care componant if you are profoundly deaf if you dont currently recieve it but its unlikly that you would get middle or higher rate if you are verbal.

Your sciatica and associated pain might help in a claim for DLA care, rather than the hearing issues. Depends how much help you need with daily personal care (does not include things like shopping and housework).
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

How long is your high rate mobility awarded for?
The sciatica and hearing could both give rise to care needs.
