help to work out benefits

hi everyone,i am totally bamboozled by my benefits, and not sure i am claiming all i am entitled to.

i receive £88 in is as on long term sickness
i receive higher rate mobility,as i suffer from severe sciatica, due to a bad fall which happened years ago.

i am profoundly deaf in both ears, struggling with new digital aids, which have been up and down to hospital with, and getting more depressed by the day,as can no longer use my phone, hear the doorbell, nor hear outside which is terrifying me to the extent i will not go outside without someone with me,but then we cant speak.
i noticed on another forum "hearing" about carers allowance, should i be claiming?
another one said something about "smoke alarms" i got one from council years ago,but wires are a mess all upstairs and in bedroom, looks hideous.

can someone help me work out what i am entitled to?

also got a £10 bonus other day, first i have ever had,am i entitled to it?

i know i have probably not written this very good, but will be grateful to all help, thank you alison
i came into the world with nothing, and guess what? i still have it!!!:p

  • Do you recieve the care element of DLA? (medium or high)

The fire brigade often fits free smoke alarms if you give them a ring (obviously not 999 :D)
  • hi thanks for replying,i get higher rate mobility think its about £44 a week.

lol i would not phone 999,but do i just look up no for fire brigade in my town?

Yeah, you just need to get in touch with your local fire brigade.

If you do get the HR or MR then you could get someone to claim carer's allowance but they must be providing you with care for a certain amount of time (I am going out on the razz so I am sure someone will give you further details).

Yes just google your fire station :)
  • Sorry, can't really help you with benefits advice but if you contact your local Social Services department (can you get someone to telephone for you?) they will send someone out to assess you for help with flashing/vibrating smoke alarms/doorbells/alarm clocks.

You are entitled to all of these things if you are profoundly Deaf.

You might even be provided with a textphone if suitable.

right who claims for carers allowance?
i have two daughters in there 20's and are brillant,do my shopping "i cannot carry it" answer my phone, answer my door "if they are in"
i just wish i could work, feel as if i have lost all my independence, even though i have been profoundly deaf since i was born,i am only 46,even hearing my grandkids has turned to a nightmare.

will look up fire brigade, get one of daughters to phone on mon,see if they can give me something better than my nightmare of wires all through the house.

    alwaysonthego,hope you have a lovely night:T

    It's 35 hours per week.
