Reg a neighbours dog chained up and howling

As for grabbing someone's dog hmmm well I certainly would smash the windows of your car if I saw a dog in it on a hot day. Like it or not, you are not allowed to keep a dog any way you like.
Smashing a car window to save a dogs life is very different to stealing someones dog as you don't agree with the way its kept. I do agree that its better to take action than just moan about something. Action as in reporting the dog to the correct organisation for it to be helped if neccessary and if you don't agree a dog should be kept in a certain way, to do all you can to get a change in the law. Not just doing as you please without any idea what your really doing.0 -
what is the the point of having a dog, if all you want to do is stick it in a kennel outside all the time?
all animals have a heart and a soul, feel pain and have emotions too,
so to those of you, who think its the right thing to be doing on xmas day, having a warm meal and feeling so cosy,
think of that animal you have outside, how do you know it likes it out in the cold? would you like to be tied up not hearing a soft voice?
what comes around, goes around,0 -
So if we see an overweight dog in the park being fed an ice-cream by its owner should we grab that dog too and run off with it? If we see a dog in a house that never seems to be walked should be break in and take that dog? If we see a youth with a pit bull who obviously has the dog as a status symbol and is going to dump the dog in a few months once he is bored of it should we grab that dog too?
What exact right do you have to make an informed decision on a situation and steal someones property based on that? Lets home no-one ever steals your pets based on someones opnion.
If you think a dog is being mistreated report it to the RSPCA and keep pressurising them to follow it up. Some owners are just ignorant and need advice and help not someone just to come along and snatch their dog.
No of course I wouldn't, not in any of those circumstances you describe but I deeply regret not acting to save the life of that poor girlie. She died a very sad and lonely death.
The RSPCA were aware of her situation by the way and it was lawful so I wasn't about to let her young son suffer the same fate. We kept an eye for a long time and they didn't bother with another dog so it was definately worth it.A dog with a behaviour problem needs help not punishment.0 -

So are you going to let all the wild foxes, rats, mice etc.. roaming around in your house on Christmas Day so they can come out of the cold? Animals are not people and its nice to let one share your life they do not feel or think the same way that people do.
By the way no-one has really suggested that its okay to keep a dog chained up outside on its own all day. I personally think thats wrong but also think two wrongs don't make a right.0 -

Having wild animals and vermin in your home is completely different to letting your own dog in your home. Dogs need love and attention which the dog in question is obviously not getting.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
Update....first off all iam sorry that this thread turned into an arguement but i did come on initially for advice and did recieve some which i acted on so i wasnt just on here to moan as Ruby moon suggested i was ........& i could not go and steal somebodys dog either so was given good advice and reported it to the correct authoritys who have now been out to visit the owner who has been told that if the dog does keep howling then she will have to take him indoors which is fair on the dog and all the neighbours at least i havent had to listen to him for two days now so fingers crossed
so ruby moon you were wrong to say there was ''Naff ''all anybody on here could do so if you thought there was naff all you could do maybee it would have been better for you not to post on the thread because i normally read threads and if i can offer no help i refraim from posting !
Thank you to the people who did help and to the people who PM'd me to help as i was heart broken for the dog & hopefully he will be indoors as he was obviously not happy about being chained up all the time & i do realise that some dogs are happy with this and those owners are probably responsible owners who take care off there animals but i can assure you these particular ones dont care
it was a dificult one because i know it is legall to chain your dog up but in this instance i felt it was morally wrong but the RSPCA did tell me they were trying to change the law
Thanks
I was concerned about the poor dog howling its head off for two days solid in the freezing fogResolve not to be poor, Whatever you have , Spend less.0 -
& how exactly could i do that ? the fence is 6ft high only access to the garden is through there house ! and i wouldnt do that anyway there are the correct authoritys to deal with this and it has now been taking up with themIf it is as bad as you say it is and this dog is howling so much and is never attended to, go and unleash it and bring it to your home. Regardless of how like fort knox it is...just get in there!
People wouldn't !!!!!foot about with a child, so why !!!!!foot about with a dog?Resolve not to be poor, Whatever you have , Spend less.0 -
I have no problem with the dog being kept on a chain etc but i certainly dont agree with a dog howling for days on end so i dont know what the reason would be that somebody would let there dog howl like thatIt amazes me that people think they have the right to just grab someones dog because they don't agree with the way its kept. There may be a reason why the dog is kept like this and dogs are not children.
iam not taking a whimper by the way iam talking howling like a wolf , loud and constant
however its stopped now so fingers crossed because although i feel sorry for the dog off course i do , i also feel sorry for me when i get no sleep and iam upset for the dogResolve not to be poor, Whatever you have , Spend less.0 -
Oh well I am thinking now you just want to have a pop at me, but there again, you aren't the first one to pick on my post, only my post and no matter how many other posts say the same thing.worriedsik wrote: »Update....first off all iam sorry that this thread turned into an arguement but i did come on initially for advice and did recieve some which i acted on so i wasnt just on here to moan as Ruby moon suggested i was ........& i could not go and steal somebodys dog either so was given good advice and reported it to the correct authoritys who have now been out to visit the owner who has been told that if the dog does keep howling then she will have to take him indoors which is fair on the dog and all the neighbours at least i havent had to listen to him for two days now so fingers crossed

I am absolutely positive, given your extreme worry for the dog, that you really did not need to come on to MSE and ask "What should I do?". You already knew that you should call the RSPCA. So what else were you wanting? A hundred people to say, "Go get the dog"? You had the advice and were doing all the right things, what more could be done on here?
Sheesh..I am/was as concerned for the dog as you! But what can I do? You didn't tell me where you lived so I couldn't come get it for you or phone anyone etc.
There was a page+ of people saying to phone up various people and you seemed to be umming and arring and saying that you had done this and that and the other. What else is there? You were still saying poor dog and how angry you were. That's why I said that there really isn't any point in all this...if its that bad, get the dog but there isn't anything else other than what has already been said that we could do on here. I wasn't the first one to suggest it either.
I gave some advice and I would say the same again to anyone who had to watch or hear cruelty to an animal (not any animal before mrcol steps in because obviously foxes and the like already live outside and don't mind freezing fog. Having said that if I saw a fox tied up in someone's yard and it was howling all day long, I would go get it. mrcol, its called common sense)
I did not want to upset you OP and I apologise if I did. My sentiments were with good intent towards the poor dog, not a dig at you, and I'm sorry that you took it that way.0 -
rubymoon.....if you had read my post properly you would have seen that i had called the RSPCA
Good for you if you could scale a 6ft fence and then get the dog and yourself back over it ! personnally i couldnt
i already had the advice i needed thanks and i wasnt coming back to 'moan' i came on to get advice , i got advice, i phoned the authorotys , i came back on to update the thread so why on earth do you think i was moaning ? you seem to have butted in at the end off the thread when all advice had been given to tell me to stop moaning and go and rescue it when i had already covered that with an other poster and stated that i couldnt do that.
i dont want to have a pop at you it seemed you were having a pop at me telling me to go and scale a fence ! and to stop moaning ! lol if everything was that easy i wouldnt have been on here ''Moaning'' would i
