Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 12th December. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

HSlights.gifMorning OS friends.

Christmas QOTD: 'And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.' ~ Dr. Seuss

Ok, I have a faint recollection of someone saying it was their birthday on the 12th but there isn't anyone on the list so I am going to trust my memory and say..
bday2.gifCurlytop! Have a great day, even if it isn't...:rotfl:
Redruby - Must have been hard to have to take sides but you did the right thing and your mum needs to realise what she is doing. And on the extra money for the house coming through.
nmlc - well done on keeping the scales happy!!
Haribo - Hope you are Ok, missed you posting yesterday.
Rosyred - glad to hear your aunty is recovering
tiredmum- apart from the ones that had to go to America, I haven't written a single card yet and I have some still to make..
Bitsy - I used to sing semi pro til I had to stop due to my health but 'yeah baby' (to quote Team Cola).. of course I do requests.giggle.gif
Celyn - that wrap looks great, well done you.
Heavenleigh - Your arrangement with the kids and their father sounds lovely. A great balance for you all.
donnygal - Hope you feel better soon hon.
Hester - Glad to hear your hubby has some work, that is good news. And my mum used to hang the gold round toffees from Quality Street on the tree, they looked really pretty.

xmastree.gif Didn't do much today except get another couple of christmas cards made. Am dog tired so frankly that was all I had the energy for. If anyone would care to see the card it's HERE.

xmastree.gif The mulled wine jellies were fun to make and taste surprisingly good. Not suitable for children though! My other half had clotted cream with his but I think brandy cream would be good if you like it.

xmastree.gif Dinner tonight will be burgers in a bun with cheese, bacon, onions, an egg and for me, ketchup AND mustard. I might even put a little chilli sauce in mine. We bought some YS burgers yesterday so a nice cheap dinner. Lunch will be a packet of savoury rice eeked out and made to taste nicer with a handful of basmati rice and some spices.

xmastree.gif I have had slight toothache for a day or so in the tooth the dentist filled and sorted out back in July. Thinking it is better to be safe than sorry I made an appt for next Friday and I am glad I did as it is actually annoying me this morning. Last thing you want over Christmas is toothache!

Ok, so I hope everyones weekend starts well, and that anyone feeling poorly feels better soon. With love and light for all.

    Morning All

I had been looking forward to a lazy saturday and maybe even a little sleep in...(7 oclock would be nice!) and I was wide awake at 4:30am:rolleyes: got up folded some clothes that had dried overnight put another load in the WM and put a joint of gammon in the slow cooker with some celery, some dried peas that I soaked overnight and some stock.....hopefully have pea and ham soup for lunch with some ys french loaf I bought last night and gammon with roasties for dinner (my belly just made a massive rumble when i wrote that :rotfl:)

On the agenda for today is as little as possible - I had kept the next three days clear as I really felt the need to relax a little. Been really busy over the last few weeks with MS work on top of 'proper' work and I didn't want christmas to arrive with me staring at it like a deranged banshee..... Did my shopping last night so DS1 can take the car to work and if I can help it I do not intend to get out of my PJ's :D

I still need to sort through the presents to make sure that I have everything that I need but I can't do it during the day as the kids are about and I'm not doing it tonight as the X-factor is on....I suppose I could do some wrapping whilst watch tv - see how I feel later!

Might do some baking today - DH has been asking me to do hobnobs for a fortnight but I haven't had the time or the inclination!

But first on the agenda is another cup of coffee and then a nice bath when everyone gets up - DD and DSS have got up while I've been typing but cbeebies is keeping her quiet at the moment and he's reading and I promised them all we'll watch a slushy christmas movies this afternoon and eat chocolate...they should be at their mums this weekend but she's an @rse (very long story) so they are staying here.

Right kettle is calling....have a good day all

    Morning.

A nice lazy morning. Everyone is asleep, so I can drink coffee, play on here and generally not have to do anything.

Went to Eden last night, did not skate, but they had some good local music and decorations. Took our neighbours who had never been there before.

Got to go to the market and get some more cheap flight bags and then we are off to the very busy city. Not shopping , but My OH is entertaining shoppers in her band singing carols more contemporary. Should be good.

This time next week I will be on a plane :j

Well, lots of spending this week that's for sure...... But if I can save a few quid all the better...

    Have a good day..

Morning all - went to bed early to sleep of a migraine so am up now with tons of energy - just as well as I need to blitz the house before setting offto do crisis set-up. dd(24) hasn't come home yet so am guessing she stayed with her dsis last night which leaves me in some difficulty with dd(12) but hopefully she'll be here before I need to leave. dbf and his dd are coming over this evening so we'll take advantage of the pizza hut offer and then into central tomorrow. The kids are going to see Michael Rosen with Mr Caring Sharing and me and dbf will do some shopping in town before taking them all to see the lights - going to be a bit of a hectic weekend all in all.

    have brilliant days everyone :)
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    Many Happy Returns Curlytop

Another one enjoying the peace before everyone gets up. Going to have another cuppa then get on. Need to get some officework done this morning as need to drop laptop off to repair shop at 11. Can nick DS's lappy for internet but have loads of invoicing to do.

Am off tomorrow lunch time to the O2, check in the hotel them mooch till take DD to see Miley Cyrus tomm night. We are staying up there as DD has a hospital appointment in London so plan is leave hotel at lunchtime, head off to the West End - have lunch and a look around the shops (definately including the 3 storey high paperchase) do the appointment then probably lurk around a little more till the peak traffic has died down.

This means that I need to fit all my weekend stuff into today & tomm morning. Anyway - washing machind already on, need to wash up some stuff that soaked over night. More sausage rolls for Xmas to be made - OH nabbed some before I go them in the freezer.

This afternoon will be spent ironing I guess

Anyway I sure have waffled so will head off now - have a great day.x

    Morning everyone.

DD is bit better but wants to be permamently attached to me at the moment  So can see me ending up with a bad back again at this rate from having to lug her about :o
Not sure what's on the agenda today. H is going to pick up his new scooter this morning with my dad and they are taking DS for a ride in the van with them (it's too far to drive it home).

So I shall be hanging around the house - how exciting. I have to go food shopping but not sure DD is quite up to that yet.

Diva - Wow singing semi pro - you must have a lovely voice. And I love your cards they are fab. I'd like to get back into making them but I'd like all the cutting gadgets now (like Sizzix sp?) etc but funds don't allow (never mind the lack of time LOL!).

Redruby - so glad you have good news about your house move :T

Meanmarie - Hugs to you xxx

jc - you afternoon watching Xmas films and eating chocolate sounds divine. Can I come round please?!

sistercas - hope care repair isn't too expensive.

Curlytop - Happy Birthday (going on Diva's information :o) so if I've got it wrong blame her!!!

Have a good day OS or not. Hugs to those that need them.
