Little boy still not dry at night

I've got a little boy who is 3 1/2 and as the title says he's still not dry at night
He was very very slow on the uptake when it came to potty training, he's only managed to crack it literally a couple of months ago (he's still sitting down when he goes to the toilet but with the help of a ping pong ball we're working on that
)
It's the being dry at night part we can't seem to master
I don't let him have a drink in bed, or even drink lots before bedtime. If he says he's thirsty I don't want to say no you're not having anything so I do let him have a little drink
I've tried going into him during the night and taking him to the toilet but usually after his second wee of the night he's wet the bed. Even though it's only a tiny amount it's still enough to have to change pj's, sheets etc
Short of going into him literally every half an hour is there anything else I could try?
Thank you

I wouldn't worry too much 3 is young to be dry at night. I was lucky as my eldest was dry at night - but couldn't get him to use a toilet when he was awake until he was almost six.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

If he has only just mastered being dry during the day then its too soon to also be dry at night. There is usually quite a long while between the two.
However, it sounds as though he isn't wearing a nappy at night? He is going to wet the bed if he has no nappy on. It doesn't do any good to withhold drinks either. Its much better for him to be drinking than not drinking.
It will just happen when it happens, its not something that you need to teach them. You will notice one morning when you take his nappy off that it is dry. If he has cracked it, it will be a dry nappy every night for a week. Thats the point where you take the nappy off.
At the moment you are causing yourself a lot of work and a lot of worry. Let him be dry himself.
Just to let you know. Some children still wet their beds right until their late teens and you can't withhold drinks and wake them to take them to the toilet for all that length of time.0 -
my son is 7 and still not dry at night i would leave a nappy on or night pull ups and check every morning wether its dry until hes dry for about a week i wouldnt even worry about it at that age, alot of children start school and still are not dry at night, most children will let you know when they are ready. 3 and a half is still a little early0

I had no idea 3 was still quite young to be dry at night!
I guess I'll just leave him in a nappy at night until he's ready to be dry.

you cant rush these things just take it slowly hel do it when hes ready waht next youll expect them to do their times table when there 4Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0

We tried everything to get my older boy to use a potty/toilet in the day time. Took him out of nappies at four and still he wouldn't use the toilet. The nursery were supportive, had the health visitor and psychologist on the case too - nothing worked - and then one day he just sat on the toilet and that was him. He was almost six!
Everyone told me it would just happen when he was ready - and it did.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

As others say it is still fairly young, yes some children are dry younger but many are much, much older. Especially with boy's it is not uncommon for them to still be wet at night when starting school. I was dry day and night at 14 months, however my brothers were dry in the day by 18 months but not fully at night until 7-8. All children are different and as Ruby Moon suggests the least stressful (for all involved) way to do it is leave a nappy on them until they are dry for a week then think about taking the nappy off and offering encouragements etc then.
I know GP's and Eneuresis (or however you spell it :P) clinics don't see it as a problem until a child is 7, and then they MAY refer you for help.0 -
please dont worry my eldest was dry at 2years day and night my youngest was dry in day at 3 and at night age 5years, it took longer but i knew she would do it when she was ready.:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

my son is 6.5 and in the last 6 months i think hes only wet the bed 3 times, before that it would be at least 3 times a week, so don't worry. He wore pull ups until he was 5. he must have been nearly 4 when he became dry during the day i can remember stressing that he was due to start school in a few months.0
