T-Mobile Solo 20 - refused as I have a low credit score?

This is the first time I have ever been refused credit for something. I am 30 years old in a good job, I have been a homeowner for 6 years (just sold last month) and never defaulted on any payments whatsoever.

I signed up for the free Experian credit report to see what the issue is but it does not show any missing payments/defaults.

Why would I be refused? I'm really worried about this as I'm going to be applying for another mortgage shortly. :(

Did you ask why you were refused?

Have you checked the other 2 agencies, callcredit and equilfax. Not all creditors report to all 3 agencies. Experian is the best but they do miss things if creditors don't tell them.

  • I asked but she said she didn't know why, just that I had a low score. She said it could be because I don't have enough credit?

I asked her which agency she used and she said Equifax - that's the one I checked, I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary on there (but I couldn't see my score, I'm not paying £15 for that).

You can appeal the decision and you will probably be fine. Get your application reference number and write to: Credit Referrals T-Mobile (UK) Building 6, 1st Floor Hatfield Business Park Hatfield Herts AL10 9BW
  • Electoral Role is the reason... as soon as i got myself on it i was accepted by them
  • Small note, dont pay anything for a credit score. The score is meaningless as every creditor scores you differently.

Taking the above post into account experian might score you at 700 (good).

But because T-mobile insist your on the electoral role they might score you at 0 for that 1 reason.

  • Have you got equifax report checked up??
if you had 30 days trial and have a print out then see.
    electoral role registration.
    CCJ
    years at address.
    linked account (partner etc)
any isue with address itself? (previous resident defaulter)
electoral role plays very important role.
  • Hi, yes I've checked through everything on the equifax report, no defaults, no missed payments, 15 credit agreements in total dating back 10 years, all now satisfied and paid. 2 searches done on me in the last 6 months (by mortgage companies). No CCJs, 6 years at previous address, 1 month at current address. No linked accounts, no issue with address.

The only thing it appears that is missing is my electoral roll information - funny how I have never been refused credit for this before though.
