Except then they wouldn't be living together. Yes they would be better living apart but that is a point well debated. So the minute you meet someone you start claiming together if on benefits? When exactly first date? second? Bit of a pain if you are in a long distance retaionship eh!

I think it may be you who needs to think about what they've posted tbh.
;)I think they have gone past first base...

I am 23 weeks pregnant and living with my parents, currently claiming income support and DLA mobility lower rate, i am unable to work due to panic attacks, i will be moving in with my boyfriend at his parents house next year, he is self employed and after paying off loans etc makes only a few hundred pounds a month. what will i be able to claim? any advice would be very grateful.

OP as has been said go to www.entitledto.co.uk that will tell you all that you are entitled to claim currently and if you enter your boyfriends details then you will get an idea of what you will be able to claim.

As a guide you should get a Surestart grant of £500 for help with baby items, once the baby is born you will be eligible for Child Tax credits, child benefit, and if your boyfriend works more than 16 hours a week, as a couple you can claim working tax credits. If when you move in with him, you would be eligible for housing benefit if you paid rent under a rental agreement (not if you live with his parents or yours) and council tax benefit dependant on your income. As has been said they will not take any of his debts into account.

If he is having issues with his debts then he should seek help from the CAB to see if he can arrange a payment schedule that is better for him.

As a couple with a baby on the way have you applied for council accomodation? If you have not you need to get yourselves on the list as it can take a while to get to the top - even if you dont like the accomodation you can always swap at a later date, but it gets you on the ladder and into accomodation of your own.

Good luck with the little one :D

You know that they meant, couples not living together as in set up a home. I know you did.

  • If your boyfriend's debts are part of his business expenses they might be disregarded. You might need to get welfare rights/CAB involved when it comes to living together as very often councils can mess up the self employed claims quite spectaularly! Good luck with the baby.
