    Hi All

Just passing through and spotted this thread - glad I did.
I work full time and my husband is home most of the day, so I'm thinking of putting together a manual for him.
Bless him, he tries, but his standards just aint up to mine so I end up redoing everything. Not fair on either of us.

    So, thanks for the tips.

Oooh a thread all of my own, I'm famous :D

The daily list is both written in advance and the night before.

It's a list of all the chores which need doing daily, like making beds, washing up, tidying etc.

Then the night before I take 5 mins to think about what I need to do the next day and write it down on the daily list for that day.

I watched something that said you slept better if you did this, that way you have put all your troubles and thoughts out of your head for the night. It works for me, it does come back two fold if the next day you do nothing!

  • So pleased to see this thread,
for the last week I,ve been at home, on medication. For years I've tried to get organised & was addicted to Flylady for a while but several binders & books & index cards later, I feel simple is best - pick up as you go, try to get food in for one week at a time & say no when asked to do do something you don't want to (final straw for me - a collegue asked me to work his shift, fulltime, one day in Sept - & I said yes,I'm parttime!I dont want to do it but I cant let him down). I don't feel ready to go back to work yet , so hoping to get a doctors line on Tues.
Anyway, back to the thread, make time for yourself every day & find quiet time for those "to do" lists, the only time I feel happy to tidy is when I'm on my own or if its only my son (11yr) in the house.
planing for the future, living for today ;)

moggins and everyone - what's on your daily must do lists please? Also, does anyone whose got children at home get through all this stuff in a day/week without bursting a gasket? I'd love to get organised with housework again but feel like I'm continually chasing my tail as have very limited time and children who seem to follw behind me leaving a trail of mess!!! I feel like i'm already doing housework for most of the day and children get little of my attention but the house is still messy/grubby. Any ideas? Maybe because I haven't got a "plan" I'm working inefficiently?

chloe at the moment I am not worrying too much about anything. I am focused on giving the children a good time over the school holiday. The only things I make sure are done at the moment are, make sure the living room is tidy before I go out in the morning, sort something out for tea and load the dishwasher at night and clean down the worktops.

There are more important things in life than housework!! Play with your children, enjoy your time with them, they won't remember you for what a tidy house you kept. Mine are now at school, when they were little I only tried to ensure that we all had clean clothes, meals on the table and that the living room was tidy enough for guests.

I have time now to do more and I admit that when they are at school I have to be anal about things otherwise we would skid from day to day panicking and that is not a nice way to live. Which reminds me, I must get off here and pay next terms milk bill.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
