Hi, I'm going to include overtime too, and try to get more into the Ebay thing....not to mention filling in all the surveys that I never get round to doing. I seem to get an awful lot so that should help a little. I have some lovely vintage dresses so should really get off my backside and get them listed for NYE shouldn't I.....:o

I found this thread a few days ago and have been reading it avidly. Despite my first thoughts that it was impossible, I have found myself coming back to it again and again and can’t quite shake off the desire to try. So count me in!!

I will go for £5000 and amend it up if things go well. My motivation will def be stronger that way
    I am going to try
Matched betting – never done this before. Anyone know a handy link on here?
Buying and selling on ebay and amazon
Selling plants at bootsales – got an allotment this year so there are bound to be some spares! For cheap seeds wait until start of spring and go to Lidl's or Wilko's. Order a brochure from T&M and they will send you a voucher for a free £5(no min spend). They also have much better offers in a few months so those doing this would be best waiting a bit
Trawl quidco etc for glitches and offers
Free bingo and scratchcards – see note below for a hint
Surveys – only do pinecone so far, so need to look at the others
Mystery shopping – not sure on this one as might be too time consuming
Win stuff in competitions!!!!!!! Well here’s hoping
Probably lots more options, so will trawl through the thread again and see what I have missed

    Bingo
Those of you who have not already picked up on this might like to ‘invest’ £5 of your £100 to register at www.bingobritain.com Their opening offer is that you play through your initial £5 and they give you a free£5 to play with each day for the next 30 days. They let you withdraw your winnings as cash. Me and OH have both done it this month and have between us won about £320. Found out about it on Hypno’s diary on DFW and pretty much everyone seems to have made money on this
Obviously there is a chance you will simply lose your £5. If this bothers you, then obv don’t do it.
PLEASE only do this if you are sure that you can happily walk away and not get hooked though….

Blimey that turned into a bit of an epic!

For anyone interested in ideas on how to make extra club card points, there is a good guide at the bottom of the attached link. It's not posted by me, but I have used the tips.

There has been a really good air miles offer too, for those purchasing them for the first time with Tesco Vouchers. We're off to Barcelona next year, for a long weekend thanks to this offer.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
  • Using music magpie to get rid of CD's also found quite a few shops in Soho that will buy my old singles. Music magpie about £70 at my last tally.
I also found out that a magazine that I get for free sells for around £2.50 a time on ebay - off to get myself a stack of magazines to sell!
    Can't wait!!!!

  • Thanks for the bingo info the_cat. I've been looking around for how the bingobritain thing works for a while now.

I'm actually starting from scratch with a grand total of £0 to try and prove to myself that you don't even need the full £100 to get started. I opened a Christmas card from my aunt this morning and found £10 inside to start me on my way! I'm hoping to do as you say and invest my £5 into bingobritain and turn a profit that way so now my first goal is to turn my £10 into £100

One thing that me and my wife have done in the past and we'll probably be doing again soon for this challenge is to make and sell personalised bibs. We bought a bulk load of plain blue and pink cotton bibs from a wholesaler for 50p each.
Using some fabric paints we then painted some decorations and names onto the bibs. (we just did a search to find out what the most popular babies names were last year) These bibs were then obviously just our display samples. We then just went to various baby and toddler groups that my wife has joined and just set up a small table top stall to take orders and bring back next week. We managed to sell each bib for £5 so a great way to make a profit with not a lot of starting capital!

I'd love to set up a small website selling personalised crafty items, just need more info on how to do it as I can only do the very basic sites!

Laura, have you thought about setting up a shop on folksy (www.folksy.co.uk) or etsy or misi? They are specific sites for selling handmade items. I have been using folksy (which is the UK version of the US based etsy) for selling my jewellery for a few weeks now and it has been far more successful than I hoped for. It's really easy to use - they charge a small listing fee (20p per item), but for a small scale part-time operation like me it worked out far better for me than having to pay for a website and a payment gateway straight off - plus I can work from home rather than do craft fairs - which are a pain as I don't drive and work erratic hours in my normal job. I found it easier than etsy as I can take payment in £ rather than dollars (hence making my tax return easier!) but lots of folksy sellers have shops on all three site as well as places like joolia and dawanda. And the forum folk are wonderfully helpful too :)

Please be aware that on another well known forum it has been reported that Tesco are no longer honouring the 500 points and it is a maximum of 30 cartridges per household. You'll get lots of useful info on this forum re Tesco Clubcard points.

  • ok just found this on teh grabbit board, might be a good little earner for you carbooters;)

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2163425

now if you havent ordered from littlewoods before they have a code for £15 off your first order ( scroll down a bit and the code is in a box on the right:D)

now if you order 10 single duvets that will be £25. less your £15 code

so you get 10 single duvet sets for £10..

    only £1 each

now i am sure you could make some wongas there:beer:

dont forget quidco, i think there are on there...lol.... right off to go before htey sell out
Work to live= not live to work
  • flip that was quick, all the singles have sold out..lol...

so i have ordered 8 sets of the pink stripped duvet sets..... so works out at £1.62 each..... can still some good money with that, as long as Littlewoods honour the order...

oooo ye and its 9% cashback through quidco:T
