elly - keyrings - also offer to do orders for non-standard names and spelling
  • to cover myself i always state on my listings its not my responsibility if an item in the post gets lost if they chose the free 2nd class option i then list a second option of 1st class recorded for about £1.50 more, it saves alot of hassle with phony buyers.:T
Sorry, but by putting this you will attract those buyers, and put off genuine ones.

Paypal will make you pay anyway, regardless of what you put, and recorded is purely for the sellers benefit.

A better way is to put sellers standard rate- that way the scammers won't go for you as they don't know you won't be sending recorded.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

budweiser - no matter what you put about "its not my responsibility if post gets lost" you're wrong, it is the sellers responsibility to sort out lost packages, refund item loss and sort out claiming from royal mail

ok, can someone help me please. Got a sack full of odd pillowcases in coordinating colours and patterns yesterday from charity shop for 50p and today I have found in Wilkinsons snow blankets for 75p. Can I turn them into quilted blankets? and are they saleable? Was thinking of using snow blanket as the padded middle. Also picked up a sack load of gifts with 75% off along with christmas lights and LED snowmen. Hope to resell next Xmas but 5 carrier bags and one double buggy slightly overloaded later, the reciept says Total savings £45.17 Total to pay £17.08. Long investment to put inital stake in, but worth it I hope!

Thanks for posting that Mambury - what a FAB site! :T I :heart2:

I've sold a few books and have loads of stuff ready to Ebay - plus a few things on there selling already :j So will post my earnings once they hit my account. I've yet to invest any of my £100 though - need to wait til the 25th - Payday.

Well done everyone - loving this thread :T:T:T
  • wow, what a great idea! Thnks Mambury! Found that if you ask in charity shops, they usually have odd ones out the back and will say help yourself for a donation. Same with old towels, stained ones and ones with holes make great cleaning rags (brought a dozen bath sheets for 10p each for my home birth) def ask and see what they have hiding in the back!

Now, great idea but am going to need more as my girls are going to end up with loads of these dresses for summer!

Will be back to pick your brains when I have made a few - have a feeling I will need help with craft site listing. Thanks x

Is there anyone from Hull on here ?
I'm in Scarborough, it's sort-of near, I'm actually from Hull and all my family are there :) think me and Mummy-and-Paige are buddying but I'm a bit confused by it all as this stupid computer's faffing about and it'd take days to get through all these pages!
Hi everybody, here's my progress -
-have got two people watching the one item I have on Ebay lol.
-Going to sell my Soap & Glory hatbox (empty) as I don't like it all that much but love the products
-off to TK Maxx to look for toy bargains to sell on this afternoon, seems to be a good place to find stuff.

Does anyone else get excited when their ebay items are going to different countries or is it just me that's sad? And I would LOVE to be a dominatrix :D

To be covered by paypal, you have to send it to the registered address. So no sending it to grannys, work, friends, or definitely not Africa, especially Nigeria. Postal system is dodgy in Italy too - I have seen a lot of sellers refuse to send to Italy.

Nigeria scams are normally mobile phones or high value items - you get paid via paypal and they reclaim the money back. It can take 30 days for an international payment from Africa to be recalled so they have the item and have long gone by then.

The posting of an item is entirely the responsibility of the seller. Some people make a living by purchasing items and saying lost in post and getting refunds. You cannot say that you will take it up with Royal Mail and then refund them, regardless of what you put on the listing. If the buyer doesnt receive an item within 10 days, paypal will refund them.

Also to have any protection you have to send an item via a trackable source. So if you are selling a game for £20, I would always recommend putting a compulsory 1st class recorded or 2nd class recorded as the postal method.

This also applies to large items. Dont accept paypal payments for tvs, cars or suchlike and then allow them to collect in person. Again, some people make a living from buying tvs in person and claiming payments back through paypal. If you cant prove how it was sent ( a hand written receipt wont be proof of collection) then you will lose your money.

I only know of one guy who successfully got his money back from a buyer and it involved submitting CCTV footage of the buyer carrying a tv to his car and it involved the police and a year battle with ebay !!

Lots of stories on ebay forums about it.

I only use recorded for £15 plus or for small items I try normal post but with the understanding I may get scammed. I have 100% feedback so people dont mind paying more for postage if they actually get the service they are paying for - I hate paying for next day delivery and it comes a week later via snail mail !!!
