my local post office (the smaller one) is brilliant for white jiffy bags (starting at 7 for £1 for size D going to 2 for £1 for size K) and and mailing sacks (the large large ones are just 39p)

Currently debating whether to sell my second car. I've not used it since the MOT ran out in September, but its not costing anything sat there. Not even depreciation.

I'm really torn, theres enough money in it to allow me to move but the current climate is wrong and I've put a hell of a lot of effort into getting it where it is and even then its far from perfect

Car in question is a '71 morris minor traveller and worth approx £1200 on a good day

would something like that be a fair weather car? I know when we had classic vw's they reached better prices in the summer months than the winter....

Might be worth hanging on to it until the weather warms up.

excited, an item on ebay is now sellig, a few bids, it is a game, currently £10.50, of course at that price, the ebay listing and 10% commission will take 1.20 off that, so i get £9.30, als, can;t include as profit yet, as i just spent £70 on items for the challenge, so really, that makes me -60.70 from the goal, ha ha.

have seen soem update siggies as they go along, i think this would confuse me, think i will update mine monthyl, as i will keep books on what is going in and out, so hope by end of jan to be in profit, of course, if i have already reinvested this money it may take a little longer for the profit to show, but i will find something decent in wholesale that i can make a decent profit on, i also inted to scour car boots and charity shops perhaps for brand name clothing etc, will take me a little longer to research collectables but in for a penny in for a pound hey. may this be the first sale of many towards my profit margin :)

i really appreciate all the posts everyone puts on, such good vibes, and very motivating, thanks everyone :)
Thanks to all who post comps :T

I went through my excess craft supplies and started up a supplies store on folksy (I already sell my craft work on there) - so I'm clearing the junk as well as adding to the balance- bonus! :rotfl:

I sold three of my old computer games on Amazon too in the first phase of decluttering the house, so I'm happy. I'll sort the others I want to ditch shortly, the start going through the books. This thread is a great inspiration, thank you all :)

I have a commission for a wedding cake in April :)

I also designed a kitchen gadgety thing which I am in the first stages of testing at the moment - it might not work, but no harm in trying :) Will keep you all posted on how that stuff goes - might be a while before I get it perfect enough to sell though!

love the shop.... the ninja gingerbread men are inspired! I only wish I was as talented.....

79 items uploaded to ebay just now, fingers crossed for some bids

For some reason i dont have the balls to list that many items in one go, i never list more then 10-15 things at a time, what happens if you sold 50 of them items in one day? how does the postage work? Do you take 50 items to the post office in one go, or spread it out?

    thanks

oh i also meant to say, to any people who need glass jars for jams/chutneys, I am quite happy to keep the jars i use if they are of any use to anyone if you are from the Wrexham, North wales area, i believe evrey little helps :)

also with books on ebay, they are very sly about that, they say they keep postage in line with what everyone offers, so it does not let you add postage, so you add this into you sale price to help cover it, what this means is if you would normall sell a book for 99p, and it sells for 99p, the 10% commison, is 9p, however, as everyone adds postage, the same book may sell for 2.99 to cover postage costs, well, what do you know, ebay now get 29p instead of 9p...clever hey!!!! (sorry, they just make me a little mad, it used to be 5.25% commission when i sold a couple of years ago, it really is make money for the rich isn't it...and sorry, even madder...why didn't i think of it first...ggrrrrr lol.) you can get to chat to someone online for help and advice on ebay, there is apparently a way round the postage so may be you can alter it to add postage thus saving some of your profit from the money grabbers
Thanks to all who post comps :T

Just listed a few book on Green Metropolis, has anyone else used them to sell?

Any comments good - bad - indifferent!?

I have used green metropolis before - a good way to recycle books but it takes ages for stuff to sell (dependant on genre I suppose) and you are limited to how much you can sell it for I believe it was £3.75 max per book or so.

But, as a website, its safe and secure, I sold approx £25 worth of books on it throughout the year last year and they transfer funds easily with no cut taken out of it.

    Hope this helps

Just starting wrapping another 18,waiting on payment for another 24.I go to P.O after work and think nothing of going with 10 or 20 at a time. When is there a right time to go to the P.O......?

Great day Thursday for 10 day listings, your items have 2 weekends of viewings ,but if you have the 'right items',I've personally found any time finishing will generally be good.Buyers are forced into leaving sneak bids for listings finishing at unsociable times, and tend to put their top price on this,it then only takes one other similar interested buyer to do the same.;)

Well done everyone on making this thread so popular, you only have yourselves to blame :T:T:T:T:T
