Any ideas are worth following - just make sure you do your research and find out how as a seller you can be scammed. Check out the internet for stories, or the ebay forum for horror stories. I am not up with ticket sales or anything to do with them - my last concert was Rick Astley about 20 yrs ago ! - but I would guess you could send tickets out and the buyer says they are fake and sends fake ones back through the post and claims via paypal? Although I guess you may have initial proof of purchase to prove they are genuine? I am just typing as I think now - sorry ! But there must be some popular scams out there.
I have a good way of making small profit but lots of it, but if I divulged info I would get too much competition !
So my advice would be sit in the pub and quiz anyone who is drunk and silly enough to tell you their life stories and see if you can get helpful hints !
The sales are a great place to start. Remember this is a year challenge so if you can buy Xmas stock very very cheaply ( ie wrapping paper for 10p a roll) then you can stock pile a few bits for next Oct/Nov car boots. Great way to spend a litle of your £100 and make a bit at the end of the year.VR repayment £404 £156.02 PAID

oooh, sorry to post again !
Another great money making thing at our car boots is plants. This takes some planning though - when to plant seeds, and have them ready for summer.
Jan is a great time to get cheap gardening stuff - I remember buying a lot in Wilkinsons for 10p each - trowels, gloves, seeds, trays etc...
Dont be put off by the number of people already doing it - you'll be better, nicer, more talkative and more pleasant and therefore get more customers ! The number of car booters that are rude and snappy in the early mornings ... I always walk away if they are like that.
PS - Pet items of any description sell well too. Keep an eye out in the Jan sales and buy anything cheap ! And anything that is cheap to post - you will have more avenues available to sell through then.VR repayment £404 £156.02 PAID

Hey all,
I know I have only just asked for my name to be added to the group but I really want to share my excitement. I have just sold my first item and I'm off the mark towards my £5,000 profit!!
It was a gift set of men's aftershaves that was given to my partner as a birthday present. So it cost me nothing but I sold it for £9! My partner thought I was mad getting all excited about it but I'm really over the moon about it! KERRCHING!
I just have a quick question to all of those people who have sold items of clothing that they no longer wear on ebay- do you count the items original price/part of its original price as part of your money spent? For example, if I sell an old coat for £18, I would put £18 in my 'sold for' column, but what would I put in my 'bought for' column considering the coat is about 4 years old and cost £55 when new? Obviously, this is quite a subjective thing, and I'd be tempted to leave the 'bought for' column blank as it was bought so many years ago, but I was wondering what other people do?'I can't deny the British influence on my accent and mannerisms, but I don't know the British national anthem, I didn't weep for Princess Diana and I always cheer when Britain loses at sport. That's how British I am' Constantine-Simms. :T

It's funny when some people doubt themselves, the way they defend their insecurity is to knock something or someone.Laugh all you want, already within a week I'm over £300.00 up extra on what I normally earn.I realise this is not vast amounts that some people earn, but for me,I'm very happy with it.On the year it will amount to £1000's,so instead of being an onlooker-join in !
Remember it's not the size that matters,it's how you use it !
So if you only have £1.00 so what, get to a jumble sale and see what you can get a your £1.00......If you have any knowledge on clothes,shoes,books,whatever-you could make 'loads of money' off your initial £1.00 stake.
He who laughs first,laughs last.......:p
Bing0, what methods did you do, to reach the £300? Could you kindly share it?Member 7 of 100 to 10k - £100 to £10k = £1490 -
Could you add me please.....my youngest wil be at nursery for a couple of hours a day from January and I really need to start doing something to bring in some extra cash. Hoping this will help motivate me and make me see alternative ways of bringing in an income!
Good luck everyone!Life is a work in progress0 -
Although this thread is a very good well and all credit to Bing0 for starting it, and please add me to your list. I know of a way you can all easily add up to a £1000 or more to your 12mth balance sheet, in a very similar vein.
I don't want to mention it here as I'm worried about being accused of hijacking this thread but if you want more information you are more than welcome to PM me.0 -
Okay, I am sure I posted asking to join, but I either dreamed it (very possible!) or my post has disappeared.
Can I join?
So far I have counted up all the shrapnel I had lying around and its added up to £90.75
Got a few items to list in eBay to wiil do that tonight. Off too tidy and find other things to put on eBay.
If the snowy roads are better tomorrow then I'll venture down to the local market and look at the car boot section. Hopefully cold weather will equal great deals!0 -
OMG I feel so motivated by this thread (already) and I am already thinking of ways to make money!
A good site to get accustomed to is www.boffer.co.uk . Each evening, at midnight the Boffer team offers a "daily deal" which runs for 24 hours. Each item is costs less than it would elsewhere and the reason items are priced so low is because Boffer purchase bankrupt stock and sell each item on to their users at a lower than retail price. Each members of the community gets the opportunity to Boffer an item which they like the look of (you can Boffer some items more than once). However once it's gone, it's gone and sometimes popular Boffers sell out a few minutes after midnight - so you have to be quick. I think that Boffer could come in very handy when it comes to this challenge.
My aim is £8,100... I am currently in a debt management scheme, after reading this thread I decided to give them a call and see what I owed on my account. I owe £10,500 so I have taken my £200 monthly payments off the debt and I am aiming to make the rest through this challenge. I would be ABSOLUTELY MADE UP if I managed it!
Please could you sign me up?

Hi Piggles,
OP said no rules so up to you !
My own personal opinion would be that I would set myself a start date with £100 in a tin. All items bought with this £100 would be closely recorded with regards to starting price, sold price, costs involved etc...
However anything I have in the house that I sell would just classed as no initial cost. So if I sell a second hand coat for £10, it would be £10 - selling costs = profit.
Same if someone gives me something they no longer want - no initial cost to me so all profit.
Thats only my view.
Well done on your sale - great stuff. I would be shouting from the rooftops !
Clurbur85 - what a great motivational goal ! Good luck
nikki2804 - I have just listed some stuff on ebay too so fingers crossed we both get sales

I have decided to start this in January. I already have loads of stuff to put on eBay as I have just finished taking things to the Post Office and have no desire to be there again until after New Years!!
My main way of earning extra will be from a shop I live near. It sells clothes from the recycling centre - may sound weird but I have never seen such amazing things! It really is incredible what people throw away - I speak to the woman regularly and she has had genuine (she checks up on this) Gucci, Chanel etc bags, Uggs, - all in amazing condition!
I generally buy Monsoon/Coast dresses - usually with tags - for £8-10 and clothes from Joules/Fat Face/Boden etc for £2-4 - again, usually with tags.
Maybe try to find somewhere similar?
I will be hitting the boot sales when they return and I look around charity shops a lot but find that their prices are too high really!Saving for Uni!
