  • at the minute im a student and i work 1 day a week, can i still buy and sell on ebay and give what i earn to my accountant? or would i have to pay the double tax thing?

    before I get mobbed, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe ebay is classed as private selling, meaning no tax to be paid on what is sold. :rolleyes:

    It is not an auction house, but just a place that puts buyers and sellers together.

  • you can register as a business on there, i think if you buy and intend to sell you have to pay tax? i wasnt quite sure it gets a bit confuzzling.

    but it would'nt be mass amounts of profit, probably £5-6 each item.

    You don't need to pay tax if it is a private sale but if you have bought it to sell then you need to declare it. HTH
